Located in Manheim (Lancaster
County) PA, Backcountry Edge is a premium online and catalog retailer
specializing in quality backpacking equipment and outdoor apparel. We take great pride in our reputation for
providing the best service and information of any online retailer in the
outdoor industry. Our company
culture is casual and easy-going, yet we operate in a precise, professional
manner not often found in a company of our small size.
As our company continues to grow,
we’re looking to augment our expanding team of professionals with a talented
Operations Manager who can help us prepare for our next level of growth.
Reporting directly to the company
president, this is a vital position integral to both the daily operations and future
growth of the company. The Operations Manager will be responsible and
accountable for all aspects of customer service, warehousing, order
fulfillment, facilities management, and computer systems infrastructure.
To be successful in this position,
you must be skillful and competent in multiple disciplines, with an ability and
willingness to work at all levels within your areas of responsibility. This
position is part manager, part floor supervisor, part logistician, part systems
expert, part administrator and part mentor. There will be numerous priorities
to juggle, and because our environment can be fast-paced at times, the
Operations Manager must be prepared to jump in and be hands-on as needed.
Responsibilities will include:
and enhance our “Amazing Service” reputation by ensuring we continuously
provide superior customer support and flawless order fulfillment
a small team of three Gear Specialists engaged in customer support, video
production and website content development
supervise and schedule a team of six full and part-time warehouse employees
engaged in receiving, stocking, picking, packing and shipping activities
and serve as the onsite liaison for our outsourced computer, network and
telephone support services
relationships and negotiate with non-product vendors and service providers
inbound, outbound and returns logistics services and costs
management for new systems and business processes
experience in a management role
ability as a disciplined and well-organized business administrator
computer system aptitude, and while direct technical support skills are
not required, an ample awareness of computer systems is required in order
to manage support services and projects
a good mix of experience in customer service, operations and small warehouse
written communications skills
degree in business or related field
will be given to candidates with expert-level knowledge of backpacking
gear and apparel gained either as an avid enthusiast or through retail
