The award-winning Suunto Core is a multi-dimensional wrist-worn tool for mountaineers, backpackers, snorkelers and other outdoor adventurers. Loaded with features, the Core is an all-in-one altimeter, barometer, compass, depth meter and sport watch.
The Core's digital altimeter has a working range of up to 9,000 meters (29,500 ft), making it ideal for any activity where the need for knowing your altitude and rates of ascent and descent are essential. An altitude difference measurement allows you to track progress in terms of altitude climbed and an internal log recorder stores your movements for later review.
Displaying the current sea level pressure in a detailed graph, the Core's barometer allows you to track the last 24 hours in recording intervals of 30 minutes. A weather trend indicator gives you a heads up about changing weather conditions and a storm alarm alters to sudden drops in air pressure that may indicate rapidly deteriorating conditions.
A smart Alti/Baro feature recognizes whether you are on the move or at rest. If you're moving, it tracks elevation changes, but if you're at rest, perhaps sleeping, the feature will automatically convert to tracking barometric pressure changes.
A digital compass with integrated declination adjustment allows you to correct for differences between true North and magnetic North and can be set to track a certain bearing. A rotating bezel allows for traditional use and a one-touch function enables you to sight lock and follow a bearing.
Making the Core suitable for snorkeling, a depth meter provides information on current depth and tracks the maximum depth reached during a dive. The maximum depth of the depth meter is 10 meters (32.8 ft). In terms of actual water-resistance, the Core can be taken as deep as 30 meters (100 ft).
The Suunto Core also houses a fully-featured sports watch with multiple functions, sunrise/sunset times for over 400 locations worldwide, a countdown timer, a stopwatch and a digital thermometer. Menu settings can be changed to accommodate English, German, French or Spanish. A user-replaceable battery is included and a low battery warning alerts you when a new battery is needed.
