Updated for 2008! With a lightweight design, a temperature rating of 15 degrees Fahrenheit and an array of features, it's easy to see why the Nitro 15 Degree down sleeping bag has been a perennial best-seller in the Ultralight Series by Sierra Designs.

The Nitro 15 Degree is insulated with 800-Fill goose down. Down not only has a soft, comfortable feel, it has the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation available. The feathers and fibers are renowned for their efficiency in trapping body heat and are very easily compressed, taking up less space in your backpack. Fill power is a measurement of the loft or "fluffiness" of down insulation. Specifically, fill power is the cubic inches of space occupied by one ounce of down. The 800-Fill goose down used in the Nitro 15 Degree is a premium down insulation that is warmer, yet lighter and more compressible than lower quality down fills. The one weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet.

Continuous baffle construction increases the effective life expectancy of the Nitro 15 Degree by making certain that the down fill remains distributed evenly throughout the bag, insulating your entire body without risk of cold spots from a lack of fill. Internal tuck stitching reduces wear and tear by eliminating any external seams that might easily snag and tear. Partial Flex technology gives an elastic quality to the baffles, so that the bag stays comfortably snug and expands and moves with your body as needed. This design increases thermal efficiency and helps to ensure a comfortable night of sleep.

NOTE: The Nitro 15 Degree sleeping bag utilizes a half-length zipper. Though this design aids in insulation and helps to keep packed weight to a minimum, it does inhibit access and keeps the Nitro 15 Degree bag from zippering open completely.

Features abound on the Nitro 15 Degree. Built-in, removable pad locks help to keep you from rolling off of your sleeping pad while you sleep. Sierra Designs' innovative snag-free zipper tracks protect the liner by creating a barrier which prevents stuck zippers. An integrated Jacket Hood with a drawstring closure provides a snug fit for better insulation and reduced heat loss while keeping weight to a minimum. A fully-insulated draft tube sewn behind the zipper keeps cold air from reaching the inside of the sleeping bag. When you are using the Nitro 15 Degree in warmer weather and have more than enough insulation, an integrated, ergonomic zipper above the foot box allows ventilation and access to cooler air.
