The Sierra Designs Men’s DriDown Stratus Jacket features treated 800-fill goose down insulation to serve up versatile warmth for everything from winter backpacking to climbing to around town use in a variety of cool weather conditions.
Due to the high loft and extreme compressibility of the 800-fill power goose down, the DriDown Stratus Jacket can be packed down small into the included stuff sack and easily stowed in a pack. Renowned for their efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, the feathers and fibers of down have an incredibly soft, comfortable feel, and despite advances in synthetic materials, continue to provide the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation available. The one inherent weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet, but DriDown performs differently. Employing a unique, innovative polymer application, DriDown actually creates a hydrophobic finish on each individual plume of down. This treatment results in insulation that stays dry 10 times longer and dries 33% faster than untreated down jackets. Perhaps most impressively, this allows the insulation to retain 98% of its loft which translates into maintained warmth that untreated down jackets simply cannot achieve.
Other features of the DriDown Stratus Jacket include a helmet-compatible adjustable hood with a stand up collar, a two-way center front zipper, bound cuffs with thumb holes, an adjustable hem and wind-proof, rip-stop fabrics to seal out windy gusts and snow. Two zippered hand warmer pockets are ready to warm chilly hands and one interior zip pocket and two interior dump pockets can stow a pair of gloves and other small essentials.
