New for 2013! The all-weather reliability of synthetic insulation and the lightweight, compressible performance of down combine in the Sierra Designs Cal 13 Degree DriDown sleeping bag with its water-resistant DriDown 800 fill power insulation.
Renowned for their efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, the feathers and fibers of goose down have an incredibly soft, comfortable feel and, despite advances in synthetic materials, continue to provide the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation available. The one inherent weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet; but DriDown performs differently. Employing a unique, innovative polymer application, DriDown actually creates a hydrophobic finish on each individual plume of down. This treatment results in insulation that stays dry up to 7 times longer and dries 33% faster, should it become wet, than untreated down bags. Perhaps most impressively, this allows the insulation to retain 98% of its loft which translates into maintained warmth that untreated down bags simply cannot achieve.
The Cal 13 Degree’s 10D Nylon Ripstop shell fabric further protects the bag’s interior and, along with a streamlined mummy shape, maintains the overall lightweight construction. An ergonomic hood mirrors the design of insulated outerwear jackets and helps reduce heat loss by keeping your head warm and comfortable. A fully insulated draft tube behind the snag-free zipper keeps cold air from reaching the inside of the sleeping bag and the 40" zipper is thermally efficient. Other features like a drawcord closure at the collar and an ergonomic foot box provide a comfortable night of sleep.
The Sierra Designs Cal 13 Degree sleeping bag is available in Regular (fits up to 6' 0") and Long (fits up to 6' 6") lengths. A stuff sack and storage sack are included.
