Product Highlights

The innovative Sierra Designs Backcountry Bed 600F 3-Season zipperless sleeping bag provides campers with similar comfort to their beds at home whether they’re back, side or stomach sleepers. Featuring 600 fill duck DriDown water-resistant down and strong polyester ripstop shell fabric, the Backcountry Bed 600F 3-Season is a high-quality, comfortable bag for 3-season use that won’t break your budget.

Renowned for their efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, the feathers and fibers of down have an incredibly soft, comfortable feel, and despite advances in synthetic materials, continue to provide the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation available. The one inherent weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet, but the DriDown featured in the Backcountry Bed 600F 3-Season bag performs differently. Employing a unique, innovative polymer application, DriDown actually creates a hydrophobic finish on each individual plume of down. This treatment results in insulation that stays dry up to 10 times longer and dries 33% faster, should it become wet, than untreated down bags.

By eliminating zippers, Sierra Designs has created a sleeping bag that’s more similar to your down comforter at home than a traditional sleeping bag, though without your comforter’s annoying ability to shift off your body in the middle of the night as you move. Get in the Backcountry Bed through the unique catenary shaped opening that’s smaller than bag width to seal out drafts even when you’re shifting inside. Once settled in, the versatile integrated comforter fits naturally around you and conforms to your preferred sleeping position while also allowing you to easily adjust for varying temperatures. Insulated pockets in the comforter provide a cozy place for your arms and hands to stay warm if you’re not cocooned down inside the bag, or tuck the sides of the comforter around and beneath you when the temperature drops to be fully ensconced; the top of the bag also allows you to tuck your head inside for insulated warmth much like a hood. A unique zipperless foot vent allows you to extend your feet out of the bottom of the bag in balmy weather but effectively retains heat when temperatures require it.

Beyond the zipperless construction, the Backcountry Bed 600F 3-Season has no additional cords or Velcro to get in the way of comfort, though it does feature a sleeping pad sleeve on the bottom to allow you to even better create a bed-like sleeping experience while spending the night outside.

The Sierra Designs Backcountry Bed 600F 3-Season sleeping bag is available in Regular (fits up to 6' 0") and Long (fits up to 6' 6") sizes. A stuff sack and storage sack are included.

  • . Prosper TX

Likes: II allows me to sleep like I am at home. Push the cover back when it's warm. Lightweight and no zippers

Dislikes: Not sure if it will be warm enough for 20 degree nights. May need a liner

  • . Palm Bay FL

    Likes: Outstanding!

Have had the bag out twice in ˜40 degree (F) weather. Was very comfortable! I was able to sleep on my back as well as sides.

The sleeping mat pouch was perfect!

Dislikes: It is definitely bulky but easily compressed in a decent compression bag. (not a complaint, just an obvious observation)

Buy this bag, you'll love it.

  • Melissa R. Arlington TX

Likes: Comforter with hand pockets was great for side/stomach sleeping, feet can be extended out of bag hands free and it is lightweight.

Dislikes: A tad more room on the bottom half would be nice but it is still far better than a typical mummy style bag.

  • . Lexington KY

Likes: Used the backcountry bed this weekend (21-Nov-2014) at the Red River Gorge in KY. The temperature was 20 degrees when I went to bed. The temp ratings for this bag are 23/13. When used with an inflatable 4" thick pad, this bag worked far better than expected. I really can't say enough about how well the system worked. I am a restless sleeper and tend to sleep on my side or stomach, which is why I chose this bag. It worked better than advertised. I actually got a little warm and used the foot vent. Don't let the fact that it doesn't have any zippers scare you away. It's actually thinking outside of the box at its best.

    Dislikes: Nothing.

  • . El Paso TX

Likes: Made from me a believer. I used it with a Thermarest ProLite and felt that i was sleeping at home. JUST GREAT!

    Dislikes: nothing
