Product Highlights

The lightweight, flexible Platypus Hoser hydration system includes a reservoir, drinking tube and HyperFlow bite valve. Tough enough to stand up to freezing and boiling temperatures, it makes an ideal upgrade or replacement component for an existing hydration pack and instantly converts most backpacks into a hands-free hydration system.

The reservoir and the drinking tube of the Hoser feature Platypus's SlimeGuard anti-microbial treatment to ensure a completely fresh and taste-free system. A screw-cap opening allows you to easily and efficiently fill the Hoser for use as an "in-the-pack" hydration system or as a reservoir for use at your campsite.

The Platypus Hoser hydration system is available in 1.0L (34 oz.), 1.8L (60 oz.), 2.0L (70 oz.) and 3.0L (100 oz.) size options.

Sizes available: 1.0L, 1.8L, 2.0L, 3.0L

  • Richard P. Katonah NY

Likes: Lightweight and packs down small.

Dislikes: Mold can grow inside. I store it in the freezer and have had no issues

  • Michael K. Springville UT

    Likes: Very light and cheap.

Dislikes: The place where the bladder attaches to the backpack is off center. I would prefer it centered to attach easier to my backpack.

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: This product does everything that it is supposed to and is lightweight.

Dislikes: This product should come with a cleaning kit and a nozzle protector. At least the nozzle protector.

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: This is a great buy for the money. I does everything that it is supposed to and is light weight.

Dislikes: This product should come with a cleaning kit and a nozzle protector, but these can be found for a relatively low price.

  • Michael P. Panama City Beach FL

Likes: The Platypus Hoser is my favorite hydration bladder system of any on the market. I've tried most other brands and styles, and I keep coming back to the Platy Hoser because of it's light weight, ease of use, best bite valve on the market, and adaptability to any backpack. I use the 1.8L Hoser with the Osprey Atmos 50 pack, and the 2.0L Hoser with my larger packs.

    Dislikes: Nothing.

  • Carl P. Montgomery NY

Likes: Real nice system! Works well in my pack and is great quality. Great value.

    Dislikes: Nothing

  • Robert A. Surprise AZ

Likes: I love this hydration bladder. It is a very simple design but this makes it very light weight. It is durable. I have used it on several hikes and backpacking trips. I really like that you can keep it in the freezer. This prevents the growth of mold and if you keep it partially filled before you put it in the freezer you will have a nice chunk of ice in there for your next hike.

Dislikes: Some people of complained that this product has less features than similiar products from other manufacturers. This is intentional. This product is designed to be as light weight as possible while still being rugged enough to last.

  • Melanee S. Mesa AZ

Likes: High quality, easy to clean; fantastic for freezing and boiling temp

Dislikes: Nothing so far, love it.

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

    Likes: very durable container.

Dislikes: nothing bad to say at all very easy to use

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

    Likes: High Quality

Dislikes: Didnt work well with my eberlestock pack.

  • Stephen K. Calexico CA

Likes: very durable container and I like that it is clear.

Dislikes: the bite piece / mouthpiece leaks and the container does not stand on its own making it difficult to set it down when filling it.

  • Terry G. Jonestown PA

Likes: Sturdy water holder, didn't find a leak and good price!

Dislikes: I don't know if this was just user error, I looked into the other reviews and didn't see anything about it, but I found that it was really hard to pull water out of the platypus while I was hiking. I've never had trouble with my camelbacks before, but this was kind of a chore to drink with!

  • Kyle M. Tahlequah OK

Likes: Took this on a 3 day backpacking trip. Seems like good material / will hold up well to wear and tear.

Dislikes: By the end of the first day, I noticed that the bite valve had a small drip. It wasn't enough for me to worry about significant water loss, but still... Also, with no way to refill from the top of the bag, if you put this in your water reservoir in the hydration pouch in your bag, you'll have to undo your compression straps on your pack, take out anything in the way of it, and pull it completely out of your bag to refill the thing. All things said, not bad for the price.

  • Joseph P. Midland MI

Likes: Nice hydration system! Fits well in my pack and holds plenty of water. The bite valve is super convenient. Great deal.

    Dislikes: Nothing. Completely satisfied.

  • Ryan H. redding CA

Likes: This thing holds as much or as little water as you want! Love the ability to store hot water or freeze it before a long trip for nice refreshing ice cold water. Great flow through the mouthpiece.

Dislikes: Small opening for bladder. i still give it 5 stars though

  • David M. freeland PA

Likes: Great hydration system! Looking forward to pairing it with their gravity filtration system!

    Dislikes: No complaints yet...

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: Did the job - easy to use.

    Dislikes: None

  • Ryan S. Washington DC

Likes: Perfect bladder. Light, flexible, high capacity. Reliable bite valve.

Nothing unnecessary; nothing wrong at all.

Dislikes: Not a thing. Great reservoir.

  • Kimberly W. Naugatuck CT

Likes: Bought this for my son who was competing in the Tough Mudder Tristate last weekend. He loved it......easy to carry, great mouth piece.

    Dislikes: Nothing

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: My second Platypus. The first is still going strong, but wanted to pick up another for an extra for long hikes, or if my wife decides to come along! Everything about these are excellent. I'll continue to use these without a second thought on something else. Get one and keep hydrated!

    Dislikes: Never an issue!

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: Have used this on many hikes now, and it has held up to having me laying on top of it after a fall, being thrown around in the pack, and many cycles of being filled and emptied. The bite valve has also held up well. A buddy I hike with has replaced three bladders of a competitive brand in the same timeframe. Do your self a favor and get one!

    Dislikes: None

  • Bradley R. Boone NC

Likes: Good construction and the hyperflow bite valve works very well when on the trail.

Dislikes: Simple and functional, works great without problems.

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: Bite valve is the best going, and the water pressure is great (cap down in your pack). Watch the height difference if selecting a 2L over a 1.8L.

    Dislikes: Nothing.
