Product Highlights

Equipped with a powerful single LED bulb, five lighting levels and an integrated wide angle lens, the high-performance Petzl Tikka XP 2 is ready for adventure. The feature-rich Tikka XP 2 is lightweight, compact and easy to use.

A large, user-friendly electronic push-button allows you to choose between the various lighting modes on the Tikka XP 2. The white LED bulb produces a maximum brightness of 80 Lumens, sufficient to cast light over 230 feet. Two additional settings allow you to regulate the length of the beam, increasing efficiency and burn time in the process. The lowest, most economical setting on the Tikka XP 2 increases burn time to a full 190 hours. A fourth setting produces a flashing, strobe light for emergency signaling. A single red LED also provides a continuous and flashing setting. This red filtered light is especially helpful for allowing the user to maintain night vision for when the light is turned off. An integrated, flip-up Wide Angle lens lets you choose between a focused or wide beam. A hinge on the housing of the lamp enables you to aim the beam where you need it most.

The Tikka XP 2 is powered by three Alkaline AAA batteries (included). With batteries, the Tikka XP 2 weighs 3.1 ounces. To further reduce weight and allow for better performance at lower temperatures, the Tikka XP 2 is also compatible with lithium batteries (sold separately). An integrated battery charge indicator lights alerts you when there is only 50% burn-time remaining for proximity lighting.

Water-resistant and suitable for all-weather use, the Petzl Tikka XP 2 includes a comfortable, adjustable elastic headband. The Tikka XP 2 is available in your choice of colors.

  • . Galloway OH

Likes: Really bright and I love the red led.

Dislikes: I wish it had some waterproofing.

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: Very bright, easy to use, quality appears to be top notch. I chose Petzl over Black Diamond due to the ease of use and great reviews on this particular model.

Dislikes: Does not have a locking option.

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: The quality seems good and the white light is great. The diffuser is a nice addition.

Dislikes: The red light is virtually worthless and the cost is high.

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: I can't believe how often I use this lamp. I have two headlamps and they a both Petzl. They both are so lite, I can't believe how durable they are.

    Dislikes: Nothing

  • Stephen B. Midlothian VA

Likes: Trouble-free, long battery life and lightweight.

    Dislikes: Nothing to dislike

  • Kenneth D. Marquette MI

Likes: light weight good power long battery on low setting

Dislikes: no negatives at this point

  • Marcella P. San Luis Obispo CA

Likes: This is one of the best purchases I've ever made for light. I use it for everything- hooking up components for my stereo with all the cords in the back, looking under the car seats, even sewing a tent seam in the dark! The settings are FANTASTIC. You can set it on a high narrow beam and point it at some noise in the dark in the forest (I've seen yellow eyes peering back), or you can have a shorter range broad light which is great for the impromptu get up and out of the tent in the middle of the night. Easy to put on, stays in place, doesn't bother your partner whether you are leaving the tent or reading a book- there are settings for each.

    Dislikes: Absolutely nothing.

  • Michael I. Pennsburg PA

Likes: I bought this to replace my old Photon headlamp that had a wore out elastic band and slid all around my head.

It's got everything I need; a nice, bright beam, a red beam for low-light situations, and is much lighter than the Photon.

I was a little hesitant getting a headlamp without a strap across the top, but this has fit well and stayed in place no matter what I'm doing.

    Dislikes: N/A

  • C P. Oakland CA

Likes: Comfortable fit and the adjustable settings are good, including the low one. The real feature though is having a red light -- unobtrusive and easy on other people's eyes. Overall, good value.

Dislikes: Why does it use batteries? Why can't it just glean energy from the universe's cosmic vibrations?

  • John M. Louisville IL

Likes: button is easy to use, even with gloves bright and good battery life.

    Dislikes: nothing

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: This is a well-design headlamp, I especially love the red light, which is very useful in camping place at dark night. Beside, the light is very bright, just don't know how long it would last in bad weather...

    Dislikes: not yet.

  • Jeff S. Cedar Hills UT

Likes: Very light weight and bright light. I love that you can have a very direct light and a broad light just by flipping the light shield. Really 2 lights in one. Highly recommended!

    Dislikes: None

  • Stephen B. Midlothian VA

Likes: Great battery life. Great product.

    Dislikes: No complaints.

  • Jacob H. Muncie IN

  • Zachary P. Gloversville NY

Likes: I have waited for almost a year for this to be in the color i wanted and on sale and final i own it! Amazing light! Incredibly bright, excellent battery life, and very comfy. Also includes red light w/ pulse function. Also there are several upgrade parts avalible to make this light fit any situation. Petzl, incredible product as always.

    Dislikes: nothing.

  • Sandra L. Mechanicsburg PA

Likes: numerous settings, easy to use

    Dislikes: nothing to dislike

  • Casey B. Oviedo FL

Likes: I used this lamp to summit Cotopaxi in Ecuador and the plastics all held up fine in the sub-freezing temps. The size, brightness, and functionality are exactly what I needed.

    Dislikes: None

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: Bright light of useful wavelength, unlike some that look bright, but don't allow you to see far.

    Good battery life. Comfortable strap.

Great lightweight package for the money.

Dislikes: I would prefer that the low battery indicator is more clear. It flashes rather than stays on, so I missed the fact that the batteries were low, until the lED actually dimmed.

  • Sandra A. Union Mills NC

Likes: I had another brand of headlamp which I thought was too heavy and very uncomfortable. In fact, I carried it in my hand rather than put it on my head! The Petzl Tikka XP 2 is great! The fact that it is not heavy and very comfortable is a plus!

Dislikes: There isn't anything bad about it for me.

  • Ken H. Weston WI

Likes: These are really impressive lights. I bought one for myself, then a couple more for my 2 scout sons.

Dislikes: (1) I bought the light storage pouch separately to avoid losing the light. I would have liked it better if they pouch/light would have come as a set.

    (2) Maybe it was me, but I had a hard time keeping all of the various models straight when I shopped for these. A clearer model number/naming convention would have helped.

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: The red light option came in perfect when I was out collecting data on the woodhouse toad so I can see them without scaring them away. I also loved the multiple brightness options.

Dislikes: The economy light is a little too dim when the wide angle feature is being used but it is still a good feature

  • James G. New Milford CT

Likes: Great lamp, exceptionally bright with lots of thoughtful functions and a compact design.

Dislikes: I would rather pay slightly more and have a case that comes with the lamp. They are available but you have to hunt for them on line.

Likes: Best headlamp for the price!! This is very bright and has many different settings. The light scattering shield is a great addition, so you don't just have a small focused beam. I highly recommend this product!

    Dislikes: Nothing!
