Product Highlights

Available in Desert and Forest Camouflage color schemes, the lightweight and compact Petzl Tactikka XP is designed for backcountry hiking and hunting. Equipped with a powerful single LED bulb, three lighting levels, a boost mode and colored wide angle lenses, the high-performing Tactikka XP is ready for adventure.

A 1-Watt LED bulb produces a maximum brightness of 40 Lumens. Three standard settings allow you to regulate the length of the beam from 59 feet to a maximum of 114.8 feet. By adjusting the length of the beam, you can maximize efficiency, increasing burn time from 60 hours to 120 hours. For those moments when you need just a bit more power, a convenient Boost mode casts a 164 foot beam for 20 seconds. An additional setting produces a strobe light for emergency signaling. A hinge on the housing of the Tikka XP enables you to aim the beam where you need it most. You can also adjust the beam from a flood beam for sharp, proximity lighting to a spot beam setting for maximum distance.

In addition to the standard clear lens, the Tactikka XP includes red, green and blue filtering lenses. These lenses make the beam less conspicuous and are more conducive to maintaining night vision.

The Tactikka XP is powered by three Alkaline AAA batteries (included). With batteries, the Tactikka XP weighs a mere 3.35 ounces. A battery level indicator light warns you when batteries are 70% depleted and again when batteries are 90% depleted.

A comfortable, elastic headband allows the Tactikka XP to adjust to fit varied head sizes and even includes an integrated carrier for one of the colored lens options.

Water-resistant and suitable for all-weather use, the Petzl Tactikka XP is available in Desert and Forest Camouflage color schemes.

Likes: A solid headlamp from Petzl as always. I really like the use of filters for night time lighting situations. Battery life is on par with similar lights. I'd say on full power I get 10-15 hours of real world use. Pretty much the same with any of my Petzl headlamps.

Dislikes: The light is a bit bulky and heavy on the head. The tilt seems like it could go 1 or 2 notches lower. Other than that a nice headlamp from Petzl.

Likes: Very nice light output from LED; easy to use flip-filter, 3 colors and white difuser. Comfortable headband, possibly the best I've ever encountered.

Easy to change, standard size batteries, there is a rubber seal inside compartment for water resitance.

Dislikes: only fit 1 additional filter in carry-clip.

Likes: Super bright and floodlight mode has an amazing range. Red night vision is perfect for getting to that hunting stand before first light or stargazing.

Dislikes: Not "waterproof", it is water resistant. I learned this after my first one pooped out from a corroded circuit board. Tried to return for warranty, but corrosion is not warranteed. I learned to open the unit and empty batteries after using in the rain to let it dry thouroughly.

Likes: The Tactikka is an outstanding light for its size and weight. It is not the most powerful light out there however it gets the job done. Despite its size it puts out enough light for camping situations. Runs off AAA batt, has a choice of filters that you can use, I use the red. When you want white light just slide the filter out of the way. It also has an additional filter holder if you want to use it. Easy to work on to change batt and filters. Very light, durable and easy to use.

    Dislikes: Nothing

Likes: The light is bright enough. The red lens seems to work well, allowing you to keep your night vision and get you to the deer stand without scaring away the deer. I haven't tried the other colored lens yet, but they're nice to have for different environment's. The light is a little pricey, but I think you get what you pay for. All in all, a great light.

    Dislikes: none.

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: This is the best headlamp in terms of cost efficiency. It is lightweight, adjustable, well-built, and of course, very bright and easy to use. It has strobe and 4 levels of brightness as well as 4 colored lenses which are easy to change out.

Dislikes: The only thing I didn't like is that you can only carry 2 lenses at a time, one in place to cover the light and one in the holder on the headband.

  • Jing S. Blacksburg VA

Likes: powerful light beam and good design

    Dislikes: a bit expensive
