Product Highlights

With a clean, streamlined profile, ample storage capacity (4577 cubic inches), a broad range of adjustability and an affordable price, the Osprey Volt 75 is ideal for value-conscious backpackers looking for reliable lightweight performance.

An aluminum LightWire peripheral frame transfers weight to your hips and a cushioned harness, padded hipbelt and foam framesheet combine to further enhance fit and comfort. The harness provides easy adjustment to accommodate torso lengths ranging from 17"-22" in length. Fit-on-the-Fly adjustability in the hipbelt ensures a comfortable, supportive fit for waists ranging from 28"-44". An adjustable sternum strap further aids in stability and enhances fit. Side compression straps allow you to cinch down the Volt 75 to keep contents safely in place and aid in load control.

The top-loading packbag is accessed beneath a top lid that can be extended when necessary to handle overloads. A zippered lower compartment grants access to a dedicated sleeping bag compartment. A divider between the two compartments allows for the separation and organization of gear but can also be opened to convert the Volt 75 to a single oversized compartment. A large stretch woven front "shove it" pocket is perfect for stashing extra layers or any gear that you may want to access quickly. Zippered hipbelt pockets keep essentials close at hand.

Other features found on the Volt 75 include dual ice axe loops, trekking pole attachments, side mesh water bottle pockets and removable straps for lashing sleep pads. A lined, exterior compartment makes the Volt 75 hydration compatible and enables you to refill your hydration reservoir (sold separately) without having to access the interior of the pack.

The Osprey Volt 75 backpack is available in your choice of colors.

Likes: This product did exactly what I wanted it to do- it carries weight on my day hikes and should be more than adequate for my thru hike this summer on the Finger Lakes Trail. I opted for the extra size (75L) as opposed to the 60L because I wanted to be able to carry more room should I ever choose to go on a winter hike.

I've done several hikes with this in Harriman State Park, and all were ~8 miles. I've been slowly increasing the weight in it and it felt very comfortable, but I haven't put more than 15 or 20 lbs. It should, however, be able to carry up to 35 lbs well when I need it to. Over 40 lbs may be pushing that limit.

Also.. the extra loops are very handy when you least expect

Dislikes: There is an option to hold my trekking poles on one of the side loops, and I haven't quite figured it out yet. I didn't think I needed it until it really would have come in handy. But I just stuffed them in a different side pocket and it was fine. That is my only complaint so far.

Likes: The Volt 75 is a lightweight upgrade over the Lowe Alpine pre CFP-90 Special Forces pack I carried in the service and subsequently hauled around for twenty years. The compression system makes the change over from bulky winter gear to compact summer gear easy. And the external water bladder carry feature is worth the price of the pack by keeping the contents of the main compartment dry in the event of a leak. Torso and waist adjustment is so easy this pack is going to be a great loaner or hand-me-down. At a bit under 3 1/2 pounds definitely an improvement over the six pound old army pack.

Dislikes: The grey fastex buckles are too small and may be difficult to manipulate with gloved hands.

Likes: Great backpack! I like how you can readjust the pack for a custom fit. The hip belt is fantastic. This is not my first backpack but it may be my last. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but I do.

    Dislikes: no problem
