Product Highlights

Ideal for dayhiking or fast-and-light multi-day backpacking, the Osprey Talon 44 is sleek and functional. Weighing less than 3 pounds, the Talon 44 is still capable of comfortably carrying loads of up to 40 pounds!

Employing ridge molded foam and built-in air channels, the Talon 44's AirScape backpanel provides flexible support and breathability to combat heat build-up between your back and the pack body. A lightweight, aluminum headrail and fiberglass support struts support weight and distribute your load. Integrated torso adjustability allows the Talon 44 to accommodate users of different sizes. The S/M Talon 44 fits torsos less than 19" in length and the M/L size fits torsos that exceed 19" in length. Both the hipbelt and harness straps are padded, covered in mesh and perforated to keep weight to a minimum. Together they enhance comfort and optimize fit. Side compression straps allow you to cinch down the Talon 44 to keep contents safely in place and aid in load control.

The storage capacity of the S/M Talon 44 is 2600 cubic inches and the M/L is 2700 cubic inches. The top-loading packbag of the Talon 44 is accessed through a removable top lid. A zipper on the front of the pack grants access to the lower portion of the packbag. Stretch woven pockets on the front and sides of the Talon 44 offer additional organizational options and keep gear and extra layers close at hand. Small dedicated stretch pockets on the Talon 44's shoulder straps are perfect for snacks, energy gels or electronics. Large, zippered powermesh pockets on the hipbelt offer quick-and-easy access to other gear and essentials.

Other features found on the Talon 44 include dual ice axe/trekking pool loops with accompanying tool tie-offs and integrated straps for lashing sleep pads. A lined, exterior compartment makes the Talon 44 hydration compatible and makes it possible to refill your hydration reservoir (sold separately) without having to access the interior of the pack.

Made of lightweight, durable 70D x 100D Nylon Shadow Check and 160D x 330D Nylon Shadow Box fabrics, the Osprey Talon 44 is available in your choice of color options.

Likes: It's fairly lightweight compared to similar packs of its category. This makes it comfortable to carry when it doesn't have much weight. I was confident that this lightweight material would not tear, but I tend to treat my belongings with care.

Placement of the pockets seems well-designed. I was happy with the organization options.

Dislikes: The backpack doesn't pack well unless it's very nearly full. It looks awkward when not packed fully, and the compression straps don't really fix this.

The front pouch is useful, but its strap don't get tight enough. I'm afraid things may fall out.

There are simply too many long straps that dangle off the pack. You would never need the full length of these straps.
