Product Highlights

Ideal for long day hikes or lightweight overnighters, the Osprey Kestrel 48 balances weight, storage capacity (2500+ cubic inches), features, price and performance. A lightweight, supportive suspension enables the Kestrel 48 to comfortably carry loads of up to 40 pounds!

Employing ridge molded foam and built-in air channels, the Kestrel 48's AirScape backpanel provides flexible support and breathability to combat heat build-up between your back and the pack body. A lightweight aluminum frame and a foam framesheet effectively distribute weight and deliver supportive stability. The Small/Medium Kestrel 48 is designed to fit torso lengths ranging from 16”-20” and the Medium/Large size fits torsos that exceed 19" in length. The hipbelt and harness straps are padded, covered in mesh and perforated to keep weight to a minimum. An adjustable sternum strap further aids in stability and enhances fit. Side compression straps allow you to cinch down the Kestrel 48 to keep contents safely in place and aid in load control.

The storage capacity of the Small/Medium Kestrel 48 is 2563 cubic inches and the Medium/Large offers 2685 cubic inches of capacity. The top-loading packbag is accessed beneath a fixed top lid that incorporates zippered compartments for gear storage. A zipper on the front of the pack grants access to a lower sleeping bag compartment and vertical zippered side pockets aid in organization. Stretch woven pockets on the front and sides of the Kestrel 48 offer additional organizational options and keep gear and extra layers close at hand. Large, zippered pockets on the hipbelt offer quick-and-easy access to other gear and essentials.

Other features found on the Kestrel 48 include dual ice axe/trekking pool loops with accompanying tool tie-offs, an integrated raincover to protect your pack from the elements and removable straps for lashing sleep pads. A lined, exterior compartment makes the Kestrel 48 hydration compatible and enables you to refill your hydration reservoir (sold separately) without having to access the interior of the pack.

The Osprey Kestrel 48 backpack is available in your choice of size and color options.
