Product Highlights

An ideal, fuel-efficient option for lightweight backpacking, the Optimus Elektra FE Cook System combines everything you need for backcountry meals into a single unit. The included Crux Lite stove weighs a mere 2.5 ounces and folds down to fit easily and efficiently into the Terra Weekend cookware.

Made of durable, stainless materials, the Crux Lite's 2 inch-diameter burner effectively distributes heat, providing an even cooking surface for backcountry meals. Depending on altitude and temperature conditions, this tiny powerhouse can boil a Liter of water in as little as 3 minutes! An integrated foldable burner control allows you to adjust the height of the Crux Lite's flame without any fear of burning your hand. And lighting the stove is a snap with the included Piezo syringe-style igniting device that allows lighting from the side of the stove for increased safety.

Three ergonomic, serrated pot supports lend stability and accommodate most backpacking pots, pans and skillets. Folded out of the way, the pot supports tuck under the head of the burner, reducing the Crux Lite Piezo, including its burner valve, to only 2.8" x 2.2" x 2.2", which easily fits inside the .95L Elektra pot.

Made of hard-anodized aluminum, the Elektra FE Cook System consists of a .95L cookpot with a heat exchange ring and a lid that doubles as a frypan. Measuring just 6.5" x 4.9", the Elektra FE can enclose the Crux Lite, a fuel canister, the included clip-on windshield and the Piezo ignitor.

NOTE: The Crux Lite requires the use of a canister of Optimus Gas (sold separately). A blend of butane, isobutene and propane, Optimus Gas provides consistent, reliable 3-season backcountry performance. No priming or pumping is needed when using Optimus Gas canisters. An 8-ounce canister of Optimus Gas will provide up to 90 minutes of burn time at the highest maximum output.

Each Optimus Elektra FE Cook System includes instructions.

Likes: I have used the Optimus Crux Lite and FE Cooksystem several times. The Crux Lite has the ability to be both a roaring jet engine and a slight simmer (using gentle adjustments on the valve), depending on the situation. The heat exchanger fins on the .95L pot and hard anodized aluminum construction allow quick boil times, reducing fuel requirements.

The set came with the Optimus windscreen. This works effectively and it easily fits around the pot outside for storage. It also protects the heat exchanger fins from damage when the system is packed away.

The entire cooksystem fits inside the mesh storage bag. It will hold a 220g canister, the stove, and other small items. Great system.

Dislikes: I have been pretty pleased with the performance and features of this stove/cookset. The weight is heavier than, say, titanium pots, but I knew this before ordering it. The hard anodized pot and fins offers better heat distribution and less hot spots.

The "pan" serves better as a lid than a true pan due to the small size. Also, the pan doesn't fit snugly on the pot because pan's handle slightly touches the lip of the pot, causing it to be off-kilter just a bit. I solved this by putting the pan on the pot the same way you would as if setting it on a burner. This reduces the amount of open air volume inside the cook set and allows me to heat additional water in the pan at the same time.
