An ultra-lightweight option for year-round hiking and backpacking, MSR SureLock UL-2 trekking poles offer intuitive, fast and secure adjustability. Despite employing durable 7000-series aluminum construction, the poles weigh in at just 15.6 ounces per pair!
The SureLock push-button system allows the poles to be smoothly and quickly extended to whatever height you need. A "lobed" shaft ensures that the push-button mechanism remains aligned so that it engages and disengages easily. Integrated straps on the grips help to take strain and stress off of your wrists.
To ensure all-season performance, MSR SureLock UL-2 poles include low-profile standard trekking baskets and swappable broader-diameter Snow Baskets. Carbide tips provide excellent on- or off-trail traction. The tips are replaceable and designed to break away entirely on the off-chance that you would get the poles stuck between rocks, putting poles shafts in jeopardy.

Likes: Got these for my wife along with snowshoes. I wanted to keep things as light as possible so chose these over the fancier quick-adjust model. They are very light, and pretty easy to adjust. They came in handy for slippery ascents and keeping balance through narrow passages where ice cold streams dare you to fall in. Two sets of baskets included. Hope to use this in the future for x-country skiing poles as well.
Dislikes: The paint isn't very durable. A chunk of the lettering was worn off just from the zip-ties that hold it to the packaging. The adjustment was a bit hard to get started at first, as if it had been wedged in too far, but once I got it loose it was pretty simple to get them adjusted properly and change height on the fly. The UL-3 actually weighs less (though costs more). Wish it was made in USA like the MSR shoes.
