Product Highlights

The classic MSR Evo Ascent snowshoe delivers dependable performance on varied terrains. A durable, molded frame and integrated traction rails lend structure and excellent traction while a built-in heel lifter equips the Evo Ascent for sustained climbs.

Designed to tackle even the most challenging conditions, Ascent Series snowshoes consist of MSR's most secure bindings and aggressive traction. Modular flotation tails (sold separately) provide versatility for breaking trail, carrying additional weight or for use in deep powder.

The compact profile of the Evo Ascent snowshoe maximizes agility and efficiency by promoting an easy, natural stride. The injection-molded plastic frame offers flotation and extreme durability. Two parallel, aggressively-toothed steel rails provide superior traction than traditional snowshoes. A stainless steel, pivoting crampon moves freely but is designed to not over rotate, allowing you to maintain a free range of motion without jeopardizing balance.

The PosiLock AT Binding has a 2-piece body and four low-friction straps that conform to any footwear. The binding provides easy adjustability and security in any type of weather. On steep terrain, the Evo Ascent's Televator heel lifter can be easily pulled into position with a gloved hand to reduce calf fatigue and better distribute load across the entire frame.

MSR suggested weight range for the Evo Ascent is 90-180 pounds (including shoes, user and gear). Deep, untracked powder demands a higher surface area from a snowshoe in order to keep you from sinking too deep for easy travel. If you expect to encounter these types of conditions, the modular design of the Evo Ascent allows you to attach the MSR Evo Tail 6" (sold separately) to increase surface area and provide greater flotation. By using tails, you can also increase the suggested weight capacity to 250 pounds. NOTE: Even with tails, the Evo Ascent snowshoe may be unsuitable for users over 225 pounds if use is attempted in soft snow deeper than 30 inches.

The MSR Evo Ascent snowshoe is sold in pairs and is available in your choice of color options.

Likes: Great snowshoe. I bought with the tails and really enjoy the modular flexibility they offer. Harder, crustier surface where I need less flotation? Shoes only. Powder, need more flotation? Add tails. Great system.

Also, televator rocks. And the bindings/straps are great, easy to fiddle with gloves on.

If you need a little bit more traction get the lightning ascents, but otherwise the evo's are a great go-to snowshoe.

Dislikes: Wish a little bit lighter, but the tech/materials aint' there yet.

Likes: Light weight and comfortable. Aggressive, great for climbing.

Dislikes: Straps can be a little difficult with heavy gloves
