Product Highlights

Delivering excellent on and off trail performance, the classic Mountainsmith Day TLS lumbar pack has 854 cubic inches of storage capacity and excellent organizational features. The Day TLS utilizes an innovative, durable fabric made entirely of repurposed plastic beverage bottles.

The waistbelt of the Day TLS has a wide wrap-around style and incorporates the triangulated straps of Mountainsmith's patented Delta Compression System to shift weight into the lumbar region for a stable, evenly distributed load. Lined with an elastic mesh fabric, the foam-padded waistbelt provides more support than comparable lumbar packs and remains comfortable to wear even on hot days.

Larger than traditional lumbar packs, the Day TLS has a full 854 cubic inches of carrying capacity but still weighs well under 2 pounds.. Unlike full-blown daypacks, the Day TLS is compact enough that your movements remain uninhibited.

Featuring three separate compartments and two additional storage pockets, the Day TLS offers organizational options. A zippered pocket on the inside of the main compartment provides a hideaway for keys, coins and other valuables. Adjustable mesh side pockets feature an elastic closure and can accommodate 32 ounce water bottles (not included). A bungee attachment on the front of the Day TLS allows you to carry a jacket, sweatshirt or additional gear.

With varied carrying options, the versatile Day TLS can also be used as a shoulder bag, a briefcase or as an add-on pocket for a full-size backpack. Optional Mountainsmith Strapettes (sold separately) can be employed to serve as shoulder straps and provide extra support when heavy loads are being carried in the Day TLS. A rain cover (sold separately) is available to protect the pack in inclement weather.

The Mountainsmith Day TLS lumbar pack is available in your choice of color options.

Colors available: Asphalt Grey, Golden Yellow, Heritage Black, Heritage Cobalt, Heritage Red, Pinon Green, Salsa Red, Twilight Blue

Likes: I took the Day TLS on a month long trekking and homestay trip in northern Thailand, and it has been the best day pack I have ever used. With the strapettes, I managed to cram a sleep sheet, sleeping pad, mosquito net, and just about every other essential item you can think of including a couple changes of clothes. That is not to mention the two full nalgenes on the sides. That made for quite a hefty little sack, but after cinching down all the straps and waste belt it was comfortable the whole way through.

Dislikes: It does not let your back breathe very well, but relative to every other backpack I've used it does better.

Likes: I have used Mountainsmith lumbar packs since the early 80's. My most recent literally had holes worn through the front panel from thousands of carries (no exaggeration). This latest pack is better than its predecessors, while retaining their comfort, good design and craftsmanship. The lumbar carry is very comfortable and it has many carry and stowage options. Love it.

Dislikes: Maybe a more secure closure on the mesh belt pockets, but otherwise I love it.

Likes: Really nice comfortable and practical bag.

Dislikes: There is nothing that I did not like about the bag.
