Robust double-wall construction, fully taped seams and a strong pole structure combine to make the Mountain Hardwear Trango 2 mountaineering tent an excellent option for complete weatherproof coverage during high-end mountaineering trips or 4-season backpacking in snowy, wet and windy conditions.
From Mountain Hardwear’s unique Evolution Tension Arch design to a 70D floor and fly, the Trango 2 is made to excel in harsh winter environments while still offering enough space and versatility for days spent in the mountains. Lightweight DAC NSL poles clip to the body of this 2-person tent for easy set up, and work in tandem with the Evolution Tension Arch, made from a stiff, yet lightweight, fabric to multiply the load-bearing capabilities of the tent poles. This combination offers amazing structural support in high winds and heavy snowfall. An internal guy system lets you further reinforce the structure from inside the tent. Mountain Hardwear guarantees watertight construction; the taped seams and welded construction of the Trango 2 have been tested in a custom-made "rain room" which subjects the tent to 1200 inches of wind-driven rain over the course of 24 hours.
The canopy of the Trango 2 is made from 40D ripstop nylon. Dual mesh doors with nylon zip closures keep bad weather outside when closed, or can be opened to increase airflow and decrease condensation build up. Vents near the ceiling in the body of the tent can be unzipped for increased ventilation, as well. Both doors have dry entrance vestibules, and one vestibule, supported by an external pole, is large enough to stow climbing gear, snowshoes and packs. Multiple SVX windows in the fly let in light for a brighter interior and visibility of weather conditions.
Other features found on the Trango 2 include internal mesh storage pockets, two tension shelves and reflective guyout points.
Engineered for the toughest alpine conditions, the Mountain Hardwear Trango 2 Mountaineering Tent offers a PitchLight set-up that uses only the fly, poles and footprint (sold separately) to create an even lighter shelter.
