Product Highlights

Fully waterproof, breathable and durable enough for the trail, the Marmot PreCip Jacket is an excellent lightweight option for hikers and backpackers seeking reliable protection from wet or windy weather.

Offering full-featured 3-season protection, the durable PreCip Jacket keeps out rain and wind and offers maximum breathability. Marmot's NanoPro technology offers a waterproof/breathable coating that’s high performing and durable. It’s also comfortable with a smooth and silky feel against the skin that doesn't stick to your arms in warmer temperatures. This durable fabric can take the wear-and-tear of wearing a pack and offers drop shoulder seams to eliminate chafing. Pit zips and two mesh front pack pockets allow for increased ventilation. An adjustable hood with a stiffened brim lets you fine tune the fit when the weather gets nasty and rolls away into the collar when you don't need it.

Other features of the PreCip Jacket include a double storm flap over the front zipper, Velcro adjustable cuffs, an elastic draw cord hem and a DriClime lined chin guard for comfort. Marmot’s Angel-Wing movement reduces ride-up and allows freer arm movement. Last, the PreCip Jacket packs into one of the hand pockets for easy stowing when the weather is nice.

Available in a variety of size and color options, the Marmot PreCip Jacket offers a regular cut that layers well over light to medium weight fleece, sweaters or base layers.

Likes: I found that this jacket was "ok" for short durations of less than 30 mins.

Dislikes: This jacket isn't waterproof. Not for prolonged exposure in the rain. The zipper area leaks water even with the storm flaps covering it. There is a failure in the construction to adequately keep water off the zipper. Within 1 hour my front area will be soaked thru. You can see dark spots of the jacket where the material starts absorbing water. The inner lining membrane seams to be well taped but somehow water is coming thru the membrane. I have treated the outer with a DWR spray. If your life depends on being dry this isn't it. If you are going to wear down under a rain shell, this isn't that shell My next jacket will have a water resistant zipper in case the storm flap doesn't work. J
