New for 2013! Catering to backcountry travelers seeking a lightweight shelter that offers interior space at an affordable price, the Marmot Eclipse 2P backpacking tent offers freestanding geometry and full weather protection for two and weighs in at a reasonable trail weight of 4 pounds.
The unique pole structure of the Eclipse 2P allows for a freestanding setup requiring only two poles, which helps to reduce the packed weight of this tent and improves interior space. Marmot’s reverse Footbox design at the doorless end of the Eclispe 2P creates additional leg room and keeps the side walls of the tent from hanging on your sleeping bag. This is especially nice if the weather is wet and helps keep condensation on the tent from dripping onto the lower portion of your sleeping bag.
Color-coded “easy pitch” clips and poles make setup fast and simple with this 3-season shelter. A fully taped, full-coverage rain fly works with the pole architecture to create a dry entry vestibule at the single, D-shaped door, which creates enough room to snugly stow packs or muddy boots. Extensive mesh on the walls and ceiling of the Eclipse 2P ensures excellent ventilation and keeps condensation to a minimum. Both the fully taped, weatherproof rain fly and floor are seam sealed and the catenary cut design of the floor keeps the edges of the tent away from the ground in wet weather. Guyout points located on the exterior of the fly let you secure the Eclipse 2P to the ground or trees when severe weather rolls in and their reflective quality helps you easily find your tent in the dark.
For even lighter travels the Marmot Eclipse 2P backpacking tent can be set up using Marmot’s bare bones setup option, which uses only the fly, poles and footprint (sold separately) for a weatherproof, two person shelter weighing under 3 pounds!
