Lowe Alpine has done extensive research to develop their line of women's-only backpacks. Narrower, contoured harnesses and waistbelts are constructed to better fit the female body. Discovering that men and women carry loads distributed in different ways, Lowe Alpine has designed the packbag of it's women's backpacks to provide greater capacity lower in the pack body, transferring weight from higher on the back.

The TFX 5 Torso Fit back system found on the TFX Appalachian ND 55+10 Women's pack allows for easy adjustment and a customized, comfortable fit for hikers of varying shapes and sizes. Simply flip up the lumbar pad, loosen the buckle and adjust the torso length by extending or cinching the strap until the color-coded block that matches your torso measurement appears in the buckle. Re-fit the lumbar pad and off you go! Enhancing comfort, high-performance foam on the inside of the lumbar pad responds to the natural curve of your lower back.

Twin lightweight aluminum stays equip the TFX Appalachian ND 55+10 Women's pack with rigid strength for loads of up to 55 pounds. The standard capacity of the TFX Appalachian ND 55+10 Women's pack is 3300 cubic inches, increasing with the use of the integrated, extendible spindrift collar. Contoured padding on the backpanel, shoulder straps, lumbar panel and waistbelt provide comfort and further enhance your balance. Load-lifter straps and a sliding sternum strap conveniently adjust, allowing you to make micro adjustments while on the move.

The main compartment of the TFX Appalachian ND 55+10 Women's backpack is accessed through the top of the packbag. In addition, a lower sleeping bag compartment offers front access. A zippered divider between the two compartments allows for organization of wet and dry gear. When hauling longer items or in need of access between the two compartments, you can unzip the divider and convert the TFX Appalachian ND 55+10 Women's pack to a single, large compartment. The extendible lid with an internal zippered pocket provides further storage and can be detached when not needed.
