Product Highlights
The Super Makalu COR-TEC PA AS trekking poles from LEKI are built for strength and reliability on even the most challenging terrain. With the LEKI's Super Makalu poles in your hand, you can tackle any adventure with confidence. That's why the Super Makalu series won Backpacker Magazine's Editors' Choice Gold Award for 2004. At the heart of the Super Makalu is LEKI's Easy Lock System. This locking system is up to 6 times stronger than their competitor's, and is far less prone to loosening while in use. This is important because loose locking mechanisms can cause a pole to collapse at just the wrong moment (like when you're using the pole to support your weight on a steep descent). The Super Makalu gives you peace of mind in challenging situations. Anti-shock mechanisms reduce stress on the joints, muscles and ligaments. This version of the Super Makalu includes LEKI's Soft Antishock System. This combination of steel spring and elastomer creates a unique suspension system that is quieter and reduces shock more effectively than other designs. With one on/off movement, the spring can be activated or deactivated. LEKI embeds the spring in the shaft, which keeps the spring cleaner, requiring less maintenance. The COR-TEC grip has a 15 degree positive angle to preserve a more neutral ergonomic position for your wrist and hand. The grip is made from 80% natural ground cork and 20% latex making it strong and comfortable. The Super Makalu features LEKI's Automatic Comfort Strap that is both comfortable and easy to adjust. During a long day on the trail, you'll appreciate the ergonomic comfort that LEKI builds into their poles. The carbide flex tip deflects up to 30 degrees without damaging the lower pole section. This reduces the risk of pole breakage if the pole should get caught between rocks or tree roots on the trail. The trekking baskets are interchangeable with a simple screw on/off design that stays secure. With optional snowflake and deep powder baskets, the poles can be converted for snowshoeing.
