Product Highlights
Komperdell's Contour Airshock Titanal poles feature a pneumatic dampening system that provides superior anti-shock performance. With Titanal alloy construction, the Airshock Titanal is a true high performance trekking pole. The primary feature of the Contour Aishock poles is the air piston dampening mechanism. This anti-shock system is superior to springs. The air piston provides a progressive cushioning, which means that the stronger the impact, the stronger the cushioning. The air piston is also much quieter than annoying springs. Komperdell's Contour Airshock Titanal trekking poles feature Komperdell's Contourgrip EVA foam grips which have an additional grip zone that extends below the traditional hand grip. This additional grip zone allows you the option of a lower secondary grip area, thus eliminating the need to shorten the pole every time you encounter a steep slope. There's even a compass built into the top of one of the grips. The pole's 3 telescopic sections are constructed of Titanal HF. TITANAL is part of the 7XXX class of alloys. The mechanical properties of TITANAL are comparable to steel. Yet, its weight is only 1/3 the weight of steel. TITANAL is strong, light, and highly resistant to abrasion and corrosion. Another feature of these poles is the Komperdell Duolock system. This system uses a dual wedge locking mechanism to provide a more secure lock. This reduces the chances of a pole collapsing at an inopportune moment. These poles also feature breathable wrist straps to help manage moisture. Poles can be converted for winter use by replacing the summer trekking baskets with one of the several styles of snow baskets available. The Tungsten/Carbide flex tips are designed to flex if the tip of the pole should get stuck. This helps protect the poles from structural damage.
