Product Highlights

Komperdell C3 Carbon Airshock Compact trekking poles feature ultra-light carbon fiber shafts and a pneumatic dampening system for superior anti-shock performance. Compared to standard men's models, these poles are more lightweight, shorter in length and feature a grip that is slimmer and more comfortable for women or men with smaller hands. C3 Carbon Airshock Compact trekking poles are slim, but strong, feature an extended G'reptile grip zone and weigh a mere 12.62 ounces per pair!

Unlike the standard spring cushioning systems used in most poles, the premium pneumatic anti-shock system found on the C3 Carbon Airshock Compact trekking poles utilizes air pistons to provide progressive cushioning and ensure that the stronger the impact, the stronger the cushioning. The air piston is also much quieter, eliminating that annoying squeak that so often accompanies spring cushioning systems.

Komperdell's C3 Carbon Airshock Compact trekking poles feature Komperdell's EVA Full Foam Compact Grips. These soft, streamlined grips are shock absorbing and their 8 degree corrective angle reduces strain on the wrists. Several inches below the standard grips, the upper pole sections have a patented G'reptile grip zone, allowing the pole to be held lower on the shaft, thus eliminating the need to shorten the pole every time you encounter a steep slope.

Another feature of the C3 Carbon Airshock Compact trekking poles is the Komperdell Duo Lock system. This system uses a dual wedge locking mechanism to provide a more secure lock, reducing the risk of pole collapse. A built-in Stop Lock feature keeps the pole sections from separating, insuring that the poles aren't overextended and keeping debris from finding its way into the inside of the pole shafts.

C3 Carbon Airshock Compact trekking poles can be converted for winter use by replacing the summer trekking baskets with one of the several styles of snow baskets available (sold separately). The Tungsten/Carbide flex tips are designed to flex if the tip of the pole should get stuck, helping to protect the shafts from structural damage.

Komperdell C3 Carbon Airshock Compact trekking poles are sold in pairs.

Review Date: 1/11/2010

Likes: Tried the pair on a 4-day backpacking trip with steep ascents and descents. Very light but solid. Airshocks worked like a charm -- felt the difference in my arms compared to my old poles. Once I set the length, it remained at that length for the whole 4 days!

Dislikes: No complaints.

Likes: The trekking poles are very light yet sturdily constructed. Length adjustment is quick and simple and the airshock feature is an added bonus.

Dislikes: There was nothing that I did not like about the product

Likes: The poles are very light.
The grips are comfortable to hold and secure when hands are sweaty.
The wrist straps are lightly padded with neoprene and very comfortable.

Dislikes: When adjusting the length, it sometimes takes several minutes of twisting until the mechanism catches.
It seems to be happinging less as time goes on.
