The Kelty Yellowstone 6 is an affordable family camping tent that's easy to set up. The Yellowstone 6 is a great entry-level alternative to the low-end tents found at mass merchants and big box sporting goods stores. The Yellowstone 6 is better built, easier to setup and will keep you drier in a downpour than those cheap designs.

The Yellowstone 6 features a clip and sleeve construction. This construction makes the Yellowstone both strong and easy to pitch. The Yellowstone 6 is also freestanding, so you can pitch the tent, then move it around on your camp site to find the optimum position (this helps eliminate someone having to sleep on top of a root or sharp rock).

With Kelty's ArcEdge construction, the floor seams are lifted up off the ground to prevent water seepage around the floor/wall seams. Kelty's water tight wall technology uses a shingled seam approach on the walls and Kelty has also installed flaps over the exposed windows and doors to prevent leakage at the zippers even in high wind.

Night time potty breaks are less disruptive thanks to the Yellowstone's noiseless zipper pulls.

Likes: We just finished a week trip in the Outer Banks. This tent survived a 3 hour thunderstorm with ponding water and 40 mph winds. I was impressed. I kept telling my wife and kids to prepare to get wet and tent never leaked. We had a ground cloth and faced the tent so that the storms from the East would hit the side of the tent.

Dislikes: The wind causes the rain fly pole to bend down. I thought this might be a problem but the alternative is a full rain fly with a vestibule. I wanted more ventalation. This was a miner problem.
