Product Highlights

Updated for 2013! A perennial bestseller, the classic Kelty Red Cloud 90 internal frame pack balances performance and affordability. Load-hauling capability, convenient access points and an array of features combine to equip the Red Cloud 90 for extended backpacking trips.

Equipped with an adjustable CloudLock II suspension system, the Red Cloud 90 relies on twin lightweight aluminum stays, a horizontal anti-barreling stay and an HDPE framesheet for reliable support. This design provides stability and load-bearing strength while avoiding the unwieldy rigidity of external frame packs. The pack’s Dynamic AirFlow back panel allows warm air to escape so that you stay cooler while carrying weight. A contoured, dual-density waistbelt offers comfortable load support. Kelty's patented Scherer Cinch uses a pulley-like system to double the tightening force on the waistbelt, ensuring that the brunt of the pack's weight rests on your hips.

The curved and padded shoulder straps on both sizes of the Red Cloud 90 can be quickly and easily adjusted to comfortably fit varying torso lengths. The Small/Medium size will accommodate torsos ranging from 14.5"-18.5" while the Medium/Large fits 17.5"-21" torsos. Load lifter straps relieve stress on your shoulders and an adjustable sternum strap positions the shoulder straps across the chest to prevent chafing under the arms and on the shoulders. Side compression straps secure the contents of the Red Cloud 90 for optimal balance and load distribution. An integrated spindrift collar and height-adjustable top lid allow you to carry even more gear and further aid in securing the Red Cloud 90's contents.

The top-loading Red Cloud 90 also incorporates an innovative design on the lowest portion of the packbag that provides wide access through the bottom of pack. This feature makes it much easier to get a sleeping bag, clothes or other gear in and out of the Red Cloud 90 than is often the case with the compartment access on comparably-sized packs. A zippered front panel offers additional quick access to your gear from the front of the pack. The lid of the Red Cloud 90 can be removed entirely for use as a lumbar pack. A large pocket located on the front panel provides internal organizational options.

Additional features include zippered side pockets, a daisy-chain attachment system, a carry handle, ice-axe loops and dual mesh water bottle pockets. A lined interior pocket and built-in tube exit make the Red Cloud 90 hydration compatible.

The Kelty Red Cloud 90 is available in your choice of size and color options.

Styles available: Medium/Large Caper, Medium/Large Indigo, Small/Medium Caper, Small/Medium Indigo

Likes: The Kelty Red Cloud 90 performs as described and designed. After adjusting the pack properly and taking it on a test hike, the weight is mainly supported by your hips and not your shoulders which helps out on those longer treks. Plenty of padding in all the right places makes this pack completely comfortable. The suspension system has many adjustments to make the pack fit and carry properly making it ideal for trekking longer without having to make re-adjustments. The pack has ample amount of storage for a longer backwoods adventure and the front panel access makes grabbing something on a quick rest easy and efficient.

    Dislikes: Nothing.
