Product Highlights

A perennial bestseller, the classic Kelty Red Cloud 90 internal frame pack balances performance and affordability. Load-hauling capability, convenient access points and an array of features combine to equip the Red Cloud 90 for extended backpacking trips.

Equipped with an adjustable CloudLock II suspension system, the Red Cloud 90 relies on twin lightweight aluminum stays, a horizontal anti-barreling stay and an HDPE framesheet for reliable support. This design provides stability and load-bearing strength while avoiding the unwieldy rigidity of external frame packs. The pack’s Dynamic AirFlow back panel allows warm air to escape so that you stay cooler while carrying weight. A contoured, dual-density waistbelt offers comfortable load support. Kelty's patented Scherer Cinch uses a pulley-like system to double the tightening force on the waistbelt, ensuring that the brunt of the pack's weight rests on your hips.

The curved and padded shoulder straps on both sizes of the Red Cloud 90 can be quickly and easily adjusted to comfortably fit varying torso lengths. The Small/Medium size will accommodate torsos ranging from 14.5"-18.5" while the Medium/Large fits 17.5"-21" torsos. Load lifter straps relieve stress on your shoulders and an adjustable sternum strap positions the shoulder straps across the chest to prevent chafing under the arms and on the shoulders. Side compression straps secure the contents of the Red Cloud 90 for optimal balance and load distribution. An integrated spindrift collar and height-adjustable top lid allow you to carry even more gear and further aid in securing the Red Cloud 90's contents.

The top-loading Red Cloud 90 also incorporates an innovative design on the lowest portion of the packbag that provides wide access through the bottom of pack. This feature makes it much easier to get a sleeping bag, clothes or other gear in and out of the Red Cloud 90 than is often the case with the compartment access on comparably-sized packs. A zippered front panel offers additional quick access to your gear from the front of the pack. The lid of the Red Cloud 90 can be removed entirely for use as a lumbar pack. A large pocket located on the front panel provides internal organizational options.

Additional features include zippered side pockets, a daisy-chain attachment system, a carry handle, ice-axe loops and dual mesh water bottle pockets. A lined interior pocket and built-in tube exit make the Red Cloud 90 hydration compatible.

The Kelty Red Cloud 90 is available in your choice of size and color options.

Styles available: Medium/Large Caper, Medium/Large Indigo, Small/Medium Caper, Small/Medium Indigo

Likes: Everything. This is an excelent extended day/expedition that will get you through many adventures for years to come. For starters the comfort of this pack is amazing no matter the load you put in it. Kelty has done an outstanding job at incoroporating many pockets for organization with highlights on side with pass through and waist belt pockets. Hydration compatable, bottom compartment, removable lid to day pack, the features are endless. Would recommend to any backpacker not shy of a load, looking for a high volume of space. Outstanding pack coupled with outstanding service, no brainer.

Dislikes: Cant take it into the mountains every day.

Likes: Great quality backpack. Very comfortable to wear. Lots of padding and support. Has lots of extra pockets to put gear into on the outside of pack. I like the zipper pockets on waist belt. Separate sleeping bag compartment is nice. Water pockets on the outside of pack.

Dislikes: Wish it had the rain pack cover included with the pack instead of having to purchase it separately.

Likes: It is lightweight; well thought out, with great pocket layout, flexibility for different uses; very comfortable with sturdy, adjustable back support; great color; thought it might be too big (but ordered instead of coyote because I really like the separate bottom sleeping bag compartment) but it is just the right size for multiple purposes, especially with all the well placed cinching ties. Like the top and front access, water hydration pocket, and pockets that low though on the sides to carry longer items. A very high value, quality product from Kelty

Dislikes: I know it helps make the pack lighter, but I would prefer that the top material be a bit more canvas-like and a bit less crinkly. Also, I would like the material on the bottom to be a bit heavier, as well as the top handle. The daisy chain handle seems stronger. Overall, none of these item detract from the high quality/value of this pack. Would definitely buy again.

Likes: Wanted this pack as soon as I saw it in the Field & Stream store, but I didn't want to pay the $200 plus price point. The price I found it for here was great for the Turkey day sale...thanks Backcountry! This pack is nice size great extra pocket space & very comfy.

Likes: This backpacking pack is great! I had over 45 pounds inside on my first hike with it and we hiked over eleven miles that trip. The weight is so well distributed. The cloud lock suspension really makes a heavy loadout feel great. The weight just melts off. The second best feature is the organizational pockets. The pockets are well placed and thought out. There is lots of room for water. The bottom compartment is perfect for clothes or a sleeping bag. Really a top-notch product. High recommended.

Dislikes: There is nothing bad about this product. Side note: You can easily cinch down the compression straps. And the Kelty redcloud 90 was definitely the right pack for me but you may want to look at the Kelty coyote 80. Its a little smaller if your not going to need the 90 liters of space.

Likes: Great pack, same platform as the 110 and same size except for the length. I love the caper color! Really nice and strong pack. I give it 4.5 stars.

    Dislikes: Zippers could be smoother.

Likes: The Kelty Red Cloud 90 performs as described and designed. After adjusting the pack properly and taking it on a test hike, the weight is mainly supported by your hips and not your shoulders which helps out on those longer treks. Plenty of padding in all the right places makes this pack completely comfortable. The suspension system has many adjustments to make the pack fit and carry properly making it ideal for trekking longer without having to make re-adjustments. The pack has ample amount of storage for a longer backwoods adventure and the front panel access makes grabbing something on a quick rest easy and efficient.

    Dislikes: Nothing.
