Product Highlights

A trusted backcountry workhorse, the voluminous Kelty Red Cloud 110 is an excellent balance of performance and affordability. Heavy-hauling load capability, convenient access points and an array of features combine to equip the Red Cloud 110 for extended backpacking trips.

Equipped with an adjustable CloudLock II suspension system, the Red Cloud 110 relies on twin lightweight aluminum stays, a horizontal anti-barreling stay and an HDPE framesheet for reliable support. This design provides stability and load-bearing strength while avoiding the unwieldy rigidity of external frame packs. A contoured, dual-density waistbelt offers comfortable load support. Kelty's patented Scherer Cinch uses a pulley-like system to double the tightening force on the waistbelt, ensuring that the brunt of the pack's weight rests on your hips.

The Red Cloud 110's anatomically curved and padded shoulder straps can be quickly and easily adjusted to accommodate torso lengths ranging from 17.5" to 21". Load lifter straps relieve stress on your shoulders and an adjustable sternum strap positions the shoulder straps across the chest to prevent chafing under the arms and on the shoulders. Side compression straps secure the contents of the Red Cloud 110 for optimal balance and load distribution. An integrated spindrift collar and height-adjustable top lid allow you to carry even more gear and further aid in securing the Red Cloud 110's contents.

The pack body of the Red Cloud 110 consists of a large top-loading main compartment and a lower compartment that is designed to accommodate backpacking-style sleeping bags. A zippered front panel offers additional quick access to your gear from the front of the pack. The lid of the Red Cloud 110 can be removed entirely for use as a lumbar pack. A large pocket located on the front panel provides internal organizational options.

Additional features include zippered side pockets, a daisy-chain attachment system, a carry handle, ice-axe loops and dual mesh water bottle pockets. A lined interior pocket and built-in tube exit make the Red Cloud 110 hydration compatible.

The Kelty Red Cloud 110 is available in your choice of color options.

Likes: Quality construction comfortable to wear

    Dislikes: no rain fly included

  • David R. Cortland OH
    4/8/2013

Likes: Size, comfort, it wore well although I have not used it for an extended hike yet.

Dislikes: At 6'6 I would like an even bigger pack to be available, but that's nothing against this pack.

  • . Rocky Mount NC
    2/22/2013

Likes: This Pack has loads of space! It will allow me to carry the lion's share of gear when my small son and I go out for weekend or week long trips. The construction is solid and weight is evenly distributed and comfortable.

Dislikes: Would like it more if the rain cover was included

Likes: Great Backpack, unbeatable price. Have used these in the past, now purchased a whole set of them for my boy scout troop. This is a great hi-adventure packback without spending a rediculous amount of money.

All improvements over previous version are actually improvements! The adjustments for torso size is easy, which is nice since it is not just for one person, but anyone in the troop to use.

I especially like having just a couple of my troop's set to be this larger size. I purchased two of these, and six of the 90s. I think that is a good ratio.

Dislikes: There is nothing I didn't like

Likes: This backpack is very comfortable. It is also very large and can carry a lot of gear. Almost too much gear. My suggestion, as with all gear, use it in "training sessions" first. This backpack has many adjustments and it took me the a few "hikes" around the block to get the right size and shape of the stays. But once they are set, this pack is very comfortable.

Dislikes: The waist straps needed to be tightened regularly throughout the hike.

Likes: Everything. I wanted something big for extended stays and thats what I got. Its durable, comfortable, has great features, and looks great. I would recommend this for any larger, in size, extended stay backpackers.

    Dislikes: Nothing.

    9/6/2012

Likes: This pack has got enough room for the long haul, or for the weekend! I have used my brothers, and I had to finally get my own! It's superior design and internal frame make it a joy to use when fully loaded! It has so many adjustments it is virtually impossible not to get this pack balanced just right! It has compartments for everything, and the top flap converts to a waist pack. It offers superior construction at a great price!

Dislikes: I have no complaints about this pack!

Likes: Really like the big bag. Will hold alot of supplies for any length of a trip. Being so big but without weighing so much. Am very happy with this purchase so far.

    Dislikes: nothing

Likes: Bought this for a trip to Philmont with my boys. Really nice quality and will hold diffently 10 days worth of supplies. Plently of room. Glad we bought the 110L.

    Dislikes: Nothing so far.

Likes: Awesome pack with lots of room. Comfortable and well padded.

    Dislikes: A touch heavy

  • Todd G. Sand Springs OK
    5/15/2012

Likes: I like the size and sturdiness of the pack, also how you have a spot to put tent poles and dry bags between the side pocket and main pack body.

Dislikes: The waist belt is not comfortable, could be a little wider and longer to wrap around the front hips better. also the side access pockets are to small for a Nalgene bottle which is the standard bottle for water filters.

Likes: The best thing that I can say about this bag is that I bought two. We were considering the North Face Terra 65, but (besides the storage difference) we decided to go with the Red Cloud because of the two extra access points to the main chamber. From the base and from the middle of the bag we can access the main area, which is probably the best feature! The shoulder straps and belts are completely customizable and adjust well. I really enjoy the fact that this pack can be condensed in many ways to keep the back tight or let out all the straps to return it to its truly Hulk-ish potential for all those 110 liters you might need.

Dislikes: Too much potential for weight :) which is a user problem, if you ask me.

Likes: The Kelty Red Cloud 110 liter backpack is beautiful. I gave it five stars because it seems very well-made and solid. We have used it on a few small trips, but we're planning to backpack in Europe and look forward to being there with this pack. Obviously, the main benefit is the storage capabilities of the bag. We were most surprised about the access points lower in the bag. At the base and in the middle of the bag you can access the inside, which is the best feature. The smaller storage pockets are well-designed and of good size. I'm not sure I'll ever use the waist pack as that, but it works well as a top pocket that doubles as the opening cover to protect from the elements.

Dislikes: I guess the great storage capabilities gives the bag the possibility of being too heavy. That would be a user issue, though.

  • Kent M. Dublin OH
    10/4/2011

Likes: The Red Cloud 110 is one of few large capacity packs available and this one provides good quality and value for the price. It has adequate space for the items you regularly need (tent, pad, sleeping bag, cooking, water, food, clothes etc) The pack adjusts easily.

Dislikes: Straps seem to loosen up and you need to re-tighten somewhat frequently.
