Product Highlights

Kelty built their TraiLogic gear collection around the smartly designed and size-convertible PK 50 backpack. Compartmentalization makes organizing and accessing your gear extremely easy while allowing weight to be evenly distributed.

A single LightBeam aluminum stay and an HDPE framesheet equip the PK 50 with lightweight, reliable support. The PK 50’s ventilating back panel allows warm air to escape so that you stay cooler while carrying weight. A contoured, padded waistbelt featuring breathable AirMesh material offers comfortable load support. Kelty's patented Scherer Cinch uses a pulley-like system to double the tightening force on the waistbelt, ensuring that the brunt of the weight being carried rests on your hips.

The curved and padded shoulder straps on both sizes of the PK 50 also feature breathable AirMesh and can be quickly and easily adjusted to comfortably fit varying torso lengths. The Small/Medium size will accommodate torsos ranging from 14.5"-18.5" while the Medium/Large fits 17.5"-21" torsos. Load lifter/stabilizer straps relieve stress on your shoulders and an adjustable sternum strap positions the shoulder straps across the chest to prevent chafing under the arms and on the shoulders. Side compression straps help you to cinch and secure the contents of the PK 50 for optimal balance and load distribution.

Where the PK 50 really differentiates itself from other, similarly sized packs is in its organizational features. The large main packbag is accessed through the top when the detachable front clothing pocket is released from compression and rolled up out of the way. This pocket can be completely removed from the main pack to allow fast and light travel on shorter trips, and is meant for clothing to keep your cleaner wearables separated from potentially dirty gear.

Additional features include a roll-closure sleeping bag compartment, compression wings and wing pockets, a top stash pocket, an ice-axe loop, key fob, stretch mesh belt pockets, stretch mesh water-bottle pockets, and a stretch mesh front pocket. A lined interior pocket and built-in tube exit make the PK 50 hydration compatible. Last, but not least, the PK 50 also includes an integrated pull-out raincover. And don’t forget that this pack was designed with the other members of the Kelty TraiLogic gear family in mind. The SB sleeping bags, TN tents and PD sleeping pads integrate seamlessly with the PK 50.

The Kelty PK 50 is available in your choice of size and color options.

Likes: its new way to design a backpack using no zipper. its for a light weight backpacker.

Dislikes: you can feel the material padding are cause friction on your back if your wearing one layer.

    Likes: Design durability

    Dislikes: Capacity

  • . Williamsburg VA

Likes: This has been a great pack. I love what is referred to as the modular or even clam shell nature of the PK 50 as well as the way gear can be organized in the various areas of the pack. I like the lack of zippers and the ease of getting in and out of the roll closures.

It has be great for 4-5 day outings and I have even used it as carry on baggage when taking Amtrak. As far as ability to carry weight, its awsome at 20lbs, but is reaching its upper comfort limit approaching 30lbs.

Dislikes: There is nothing that I do not like.

  • Dylan A. Tampa FL

Likes: This bag is very lightweight and full of padding which makes it super comfortable. The color scheme is very attractive. My favorite part is the compartmentalization as well as no zippers. I love that I can detach the front pouch to make it a 35L day pack. Great product!

Dislikes: I like everything about it!

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: I went for the entire Kelty Trail-Logic system (tent, PK50 pack, SB35 bag) based on very knowledgeable customer service advice from Leon at BackCountry Edge and I could not be happier. Have not used the pack yet, but the way it is designed in very smart and well-thought out. High quality pack, and zipperless is a plus in my mind.

Dislikes: Gave it 4 stars because I have not been able to use it extensively enough at this point, but seems top quality for the price.

  • Ronnie M. Columbus MS

Likes: Makes packing simple. Like that you can remove part of the pack and leave at home and have a lighter day pack.

Dislikes: Could use some more oustide smaller pockets for items you might need to access quicker.
