Product Highlights

Ideal for weekend trips or extended trips in the backcountry, the Kelty Lakota 85 internal frame backpack offers an excellent combination of load-hauling performance, durability and affordability.

The suspension system found on the Lakota 85 relies on a single lightweight LightBeam aluminum stay and a Dynamic AirFlow back panel that allows warm air to escape so that you stay cooler while carrying weight. A contoured, dual-density waistbelt offers comfortable load support. Kelty's patented Scherer Cinch uses a pulley-like system to double the tightening force on the waistbelt, ensuring that the brunt of the pack's weight rests on your hips.

The Small/Medium size will accommodate torsos ranging from 14.5"-18.5" while the Medium/Large fits 17.5"-21" torsos. Load lifter straps relieve stress on your shoulders and an adjustable sternum strap positions the shoulder straps across the chest to prevent chafing under the arms and on the shoulders. Side compression straps secure the contents of the Lakota 85 for optimal balance and load distribution. An integrated spindrift collar and height-adjustable top lid allow you to carry even more gear and further aid in securing the Lakota 65's contents.

The top-loading Lakota 85 also incorporates an innovative design on the lowest portion of the packbag that provides wide access through the bottom of pack. This feature makes it much easier to get a sleeping bag, clothes or other gear in and out of the Lakota 85 than is often the case with the compartment access on comparably-sized packs. An additional zipper offers quick access to your gear from the side of the pack.

Additional features include a large, zippered front pocket, a daisy-chain attachment system, a carry handle, an ice-axe loop and dual mesh water bottle pockets. A lined interior pocket and built-in tube exit make the Lakota 65 hydration compatible (hydration system not included). A rain cover is included for weather protection.

The Kelty Lakota 85 internal frame backpack is available in your choice of size and color options.

Likes: Great low weight/high volume bag! every other bag with this volume is a lb or 3 heavier. When you need to use the whole 5000Cubic inches of space for gear, it's great to have such a light bag. Love the side zipper, and the bottom zipper for the bag compartment is nice and big so I don't have to fight to get my 0degree bag in it.

Dislikes: It could use an extra side pocket, but has just enough pockets to keep me happy.

Likes: I love this back pack. It cinches down very tight for maximum comfort. It is very durable. Comes with a rain cover.

Dislikes: It would be nice to have side pockets, but not necessary.

Likes: Full disclosure here as I'm a novice here. This pack replaces a SwissGear pack I had purchased at SAMS when even they had deeply discounted it to move the product. This Kelty pack is light years ahead of that one. I've worn this pack with my gear: sleeping bag, pad, tent, water, etc (22 lbs) as i walk around my neighborhood and on a local trail. I've logged at least 15 miles. I think I've decided to keep it. I wonder what other packs would feel like but for the weight and price I think this one will do. Actually the more i wear it the more i like it. That's a good sign. The buckles are small but i think that keeps the weight down.

Dislikes: The waist straps are so long its ridicules. I'll have to cut them and have wife stitch up the ends.

Likes: This bag is amazing!!! loads of room when you need it and compressible enough for a short 1-2 niter without feeling overburdened. huge plus that this thing comes with a rain cover and a nice little pocket designated for it with a hi-viz blue cord on the zipper. the straps are very comfortable and adjustable to many sizes for different people. material seems very rugged and well made, definitely will stand the test of time.

Dislikes: have only used it for 1 night so far but have found nothing i dislike so far!!!
