Product Highlights

The freestanding Kelty Hula Shadehouse shelter is large enough to cover a picnic table and tall enough to allow occupants to stand underneath it without stooping.

The premium DAC hybrid aluminum poles found on the Hula Shadehouse weigh less and are far stronger than the fiberglass poles found on bargain outlet shelters. A unique, hoop-shaped pole design angles the back of the Hula Shadehouse a little lower than the front to provide for more protection from the wind and sun. This pole design gives the Hula Shadehouse additional strength and increased protection from the elements. The polyester taffeta fabric won't stretch when it gets wet, so the Hula Shadehouse stays tight in all weather conditions.

The Kelty Hula Shadehouse covers an area of 10 feet by 10 feet (100 sq ft) and provides an interior peak height of 6'6".

Likes: Very light, especially compared to the 50 pound foldable sun shade it was to replace. Overall, pretty easy to set up, once you got the hang of how to handle the circle. it provided nice relief, though not exactly shade, from the sun.

Dislikes: We were at the Outer Banks (NC) and this thing is not up the wind. i had read reviews lloking for something that would be useful there. One of the straps ripped in the first half hour. used it some more, but never when the wind was going to gust to 15 mph or more, which is a lot of the time there and thus very limiting. if you were using where the wind is light, i would seriouly recommend it for the listed reasons.

Likes: We purchased this shelter as a substitute for a fixed awning on our van. It is super easy to set up and far more versatile than an awning. You can easily move it around your campsite and it fits well over a full size table.

Dislikes: The instructions could be a bit more specific about how to use the "tension adjuster straps".
