Priced to appeal to cost-conscious backpackers and campers, the Kelty Grand Mesa 4 tent provides excellent value and performance for 3-season use. Foregoing all of the bells and whistles of higher-priced tents, the no-frills Grand Mesa 4 offers solid construction and functional design at an affordable price.
The Grand Mesa 4 provides 53.3 sq. ft. of interior space and a vestibule offers 18.8 sq. ft. of additional exterior space for stowing gear and muddy boots. The combination of sidewall vents and mesh fabric used on the tent body provides excellent ventilation for combating condensation build-up and keeping you cool during warm weather.
The Grand Mesa 4 uses color coded clip construction that eliminates the hassle of feeding poles through cumbersome tent sleeves. Just slide the shock-corded pole sections together and attach the clips. The freestanding design of the Grand Mesa 4 allows you to pitch the tent and then move it around your campsite to find the optimum position, eliminating an uncomfortable night's sleep over an exposed root or rock.
The PU polyester-taffeta rainfly and taped seams of the Kelty Grand Mesa 4 protect the interior of the tent from wind and rain.

Likes: Easy to set up for one person (first-time camper). Perfect size for one twin size air mattress and a large dog bedand still room to get around. Rain fly worked to keep morning dew off tent walls. Overnight temps near 50 degrees& high humidity, I stayed comfortable.
Dislikes: stakes bent easily

Likes: I just had a chance over the July 4th weekend to use my new Grand Mesa 4 tent. It was firm and steady when the strong winds blew. Set up was easy, love the snap on clips. The aluminum poles with an elastic cord inside are great -- easy to set up and quite lightweight.
Dislikes: I wish I had bought another model that has more screen windows to allow more air flow. It was hot where I camped and it was impossible to take a nap in there. The zipper of the canopy kept on being stuck whenever I zipped it with one hand. The flap along the zipper got in the way. I figured a way to avoid this problem and that is, by using my free hand to slide the flap away from the zipper as I zipped. The tent was a little too small to fit two twin air mattresses. The tent pegs are quite flimsy, they bent if I hammered too hard. I would like it more if the storage pull string pouch is a zipped up bag instead.

Likes: We wanted a tent for our almost 11 year-old boy scout. We did a lot of research & decided that Kelty was the brand we wanted to buy. He's only been on one campout (2 if you count the living room) & he loves it. It has a cool factor for him in that all of his friends think the rainfly makes it look like a spaceship. Lightweight & zipper seems well made. We read some concerns about ventilation. Not sure if that will be an issue or not but I think if the rainfly is attached & staked out properly it won't be any worse than other tents. We like that the rainfly goes all of the way to the ground so that water won't be able to leak in any seams or windows. Important if you live in FL!
Dislikes: The stakes that it came with are about useless! They bend the first time you use them. I've seen this in many reviews so I'm sure Kelty knows this. We should probably call them and see if they'll do anything about it. We just bought more stakes at a sporting goods store. Much heavier though. This is a 2 person tent although it says 4. We had the Grand Mesa 2 and it was too small for 2 boys to have their own air mattress so we went to the Grand Mesa 4. Nice size for 2!

Likes: It offers a good combination of quality, weight, features and price. This tent does the basics very well, which is exactly what we wanted for our Boy Scout troop.
Dislikes: Nothing so far.
