Quality of fabric & build, the most adjustable pack for a growing boy, value for price.
I bought this backpack for my son's first hike. It's a great pack that I can continue to adjust as he grows. This is built so well that I truely believe it will be the last pack I buy for him.
Dislikes:
My only issue with this pack applies to most backpacking products I have looked at...poor directions. It seems every manufacturer assumes you are experienced and know all of the features so there is no need for an explanation.
We are new to backpacking and still learning what to bring (and NOT to bring LOL), how to pack, etc. Directions on what you can use each of the pockets for would be very nice. For instance, I didn't know that the bag in the pack at the top holds a camel pack...I figured it out after talking to others, but some suggestions would have been nice.

great pack for the price, or even more. Enough space for anything I want to bring and comfortable with 50 lbs. Seams and zippers seem strong. I love this bag, and would recommend it to anyone.
Dislikes:
Nothing yet, seems great.

In order for anyone reading this to better understand my review, I need to let you know that the reason I bought this backpack was for traveling purposes rather than hiking and taking/carrying a lot of gear with me.
And the backpack served me great.
It is very light so even though I'm 6'4" guy and my stuff is usually heavier than my girlfriend's, my bag was never heavier than 15 pounds. Very important when flying on a bunch of domestic flights for baggage allowances are smaller. Also, you won't have to carry a lot of weight.
Second, the backpack is made very well. Not only is it light, but made of quality materials (buckles, zippers) and easy to fit. A lot of useful pockets too.
Dislikes:
While this backpack was everything I was looking for, there are 2 things that would make this backpack even better.
1. Pocket at the bottom. Always a great thing for putting away dirty underwear. Although I should point out that you can access most of the backpack with a big front zipper.
2. A cover for rain. But you can get this anywhere or just use a poncho.

This bag does not have a separate sleeping bag compartment.

I researched and purchased this pack with the intention of using it for camping with the Scouts. I have adjusted the pack with about 28 lbs in it per the Kelty instructions and it fit well, was easy to adjust and comfortable. It is adjustable enough to fit me at 6' and my son at 5'4". The material seems like it will be very durable and it has lots of small and medium sized pockets. It really puts the weight of the pack on your hips. Hydration pocket is in the main compartment.
Dislikes:
Would be nice if Kelty had or recommended a hydration bladder to specifically fit the pocket.

Excellent pack. I don’t think you can get a better one for the money. Well put together and the perfect size for a long weekend trek. Holds all the essentials (for shelter, sleeping, cooking, clothing, food, water, purifier, toiletries), as well as a few luxury items (chair, hammock, etc). I have not taken it for a full week outing yet, but I plan to. Comfortable shoulder straps and belt. Nice pockets all over it for keeping your stuff organized, and lots of loops for strapping things on. If I had a larger pack, I would just fill it with things (extra weight) I don’t really need. Very adjustable, fits me (6’) or my teen age son (5’) well. I will be buying one for him soon.
Dislikes:
There is nothing I dislike about this pack.

I did a good deal of research before buying this pack. My son and I are new to backpacking and I wanted to make sure our first trip out wasn't a bust because of an uncomfortable pack. My research paid off, and Kelty didn't disappoint! Great design and fitting options. Solid quality. The top and front entry points make packing and accessing gear a breeze. The detachable lumbar pack for day hikes is a nice option, and works quite well. I am looking forward to many years of service from this pack.

The only negative i can think of is that it doesn't have a separate tent compartment, which is not a big deal really for me.

Hate the gear loops on the back. They are pointless.
