Product Highlights

The lightweight, packable Kelty Cosmic Down 40 Degree sleeping bag utilizes compressible down insulation and incorporates a number of performance features that make it an ideal option for warm-weather backpacking and camping.

The Cosmic Down 40 Degree sleeping bag is insulated with 550-fill power down. Down has a soft, comfortable feel and continues to be the insulation with the best warmth-to-weight ratio. The feathers and fibers are renowned for containing body heat and are very easily compressed, so the Cosmic Down 40 Degree bag takes up less space in your backpack. The one downfall to this insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet.

A draft tube behind the Cosmic Down 40 Degree bag’s 58", two-way locking zipper, an insulated top draft collar and a contoured hood with an insulated hood baffle further enhance the bag’s thermal efficiency. The hood utilizes Kelty's patented FatMan and Ribbon drawcords, allowing you to adjust the top or lower sections of the hood by feel even when it's dark outside. A polyester taffeta liner provides internal comfort.

Other features found on the Cosmic Down 40 Degree include sleeping pad security loops, internal liner loops and hanging loops.

The Kelty Cosmic Down 40 Degree sleeping bag is available in Regular (fits up to 6' 0") and Long (up to 6' 6") lengths. Each Cosmic Down 40 Degree bag includes a stuff sack.

Likes: Wow! Great sleeping bag. I am naturally pretty warm at night and this does more than enough for me for about 7 months of the year we go out. I'm planning a 4 day backpacking trip with friends and am confident I will easily keep my pack weight to 30-35lbs. For the price you won't find a lighter, more breathable & packable bag out there.

    Dislikes: N/A

  • Don L. Media PA

Likes: Tried out the Kelty Cosmic Down on Dec. 27th outdoors. Bag is rated for 40 degrees, and the night was warmer than most in December. I was comfortable, but could feel the chill in the air. I micro fleece liner would have been perfect. The bag performed well given the fact is was about 39 degrees that evening. I have no doubt it will hold up in Spring, Summer and Fall weather. Love the weight, which was a big factor in choosing the Kelty.

Dislikes: Regular size going to 6 feet is short in my opinion, and I had to spend more to ensure comfort with the long. Other bags have a higher height measurement for regular.

  • Neil B. Owens Cross Roads AL

Likes: This is a great warmer weather bag. I bought these for my sons (7 & 9) even though they are adult bags. They have the Cosmic Down 20 but I wanted something lighter weight for them on warmer trips. They are true down bags that compress down to nothing when packed. You can't beat these bags for the price.

    Dislikes: Nothing

  • Anonymous Backcountry Edge Customer

Likes: Light weight, compact... just a great bag for the money! Way to go Kelty.

    Dislikes: Everything good.

  • Mark K. Hudsonville MI

Likes: Bought the bag for my wife for summer camping. Plenty warm and cozy. Packs nice and small.

Dislikes: My mistake, I should have ordered her a long as she is 5'11". The long would have been more comfortable for her as she is a restless sleeper.

  • Phillip W. South Elgin IL

Likes: Very roomy even for a large frame guy. Very light weight but extremely warm. Comfortably fits into a small compression sack and packs to 6" x 6" or less!

Dislikes: Wish the bag came in colors other than yellow. I just like darker sleeping bag colors
