Product Highlights

With its compact size, light weight, and simple-to-use design, the Katadyn Hiker microfilter is an ideal choice for back country hiking, camping and backpacking. Weighing only 11 oz. and measuring a mere 6.5" x 3", the Hiker takes up very little room in your pack and does its job quickly and efficiently.

The Hiker's 0.3 micron pleated AntiClog glass fiber filter removes particulates, bacteria and cysts, including Giardia and Cryptosporidium. The Hiker can produce up to 200 gallons of drinkable water, depending on the quality of the water source, before a replacement filter is required. An activated carbon core reduces unpleasant tastes and odors, ensuring fresh-tasting water.

A simple-to-use ergonomic pump and a 36" input hose allow the Hiker to easily filter up to 1 quart of water per minute at a rate of 48 strokes per quart.

The Hiker includes an input hose with modular pre-filter and an output hose with an easy-fill bottle adapter to efficiently pump water into your water bottle. A deluxe carry bag has sewn-in field instructions and field tips. The Hiker also comes with a tube of silicon lubricant to keep parts moving smoothly and efficiently.

  • . Somerville OH

Likes: Compact design, easy to use, and does exactly what it was advertised to do. I didn't get any diseases while I depended on it, so I guess that's a good thing.

Dislikes: Holds water for a while, but easily fixed by making sure you pump that out after each use. A bit heavy, but worth it.

Likes: Easy to use, storage sack is large enough for additional items (water treatment drops, etc), easy to pump, includes various adapters for nalgene/camelback.

Dislikes: Texture of the pump is a little slick, dropped it a few times while getting everything in order.

Likes: Love the portability. Seems to work really well. I've used it like half a dozen times since I got it and can't find anything really wrong with the product.

Dislikes: It came with a couple of attachments designed for connecting the device to a water bottle and connecting it to a camel pak. Neither of them seem to work at all. I just take the out put hose and put it doen in my camel pak and that works just find. Just a little weird that the two attachments they sent seem to have no use. Everything else works just as it should.

Dislikes: Haven't found anything wrong with this product yet.
