Product Highlights

The Jetboil Flash Java Kit is an innovative cook system that comes complete with a coffee press and coffee sampler. An efficient design captures and focuses heat more efficiently than traditional backpacking cook systems, boiling water in just 2 minutes! An integrated external temperature indicator lets you know when your water is hot.

The Flash's 1-liter insulated and hand-anodized aluminum Jetboil cooking cup connects directly to the high performance burner through the use of Jetboil FluxRing technology, ensuring that less heat is lost during the cooking process. A built-in windscreen allows the Flash to function effectively even under less than optimal conditions. A simple-to-use electric igniter makes lighting the burner and operating the Flash quick and easy.

A neoprene lining encases the FluxRing cooking cup, keeping food and beverages warm long after heating. The lining also houses a color change window that alerts you to when the contents are hot. A sip-through lid further helps insulate the contents of the cooking cup and prohibits spills. The protective plastic bottom of the cup can be removed for use as a small bowl or measuring device.

Compact and lightweight, the entire Flash cooking system can be stowed inside the FluxRing cooking cup, reducing the entire 15 oz Flash to only 4.1" x 7.1" of packed size. You can customize and expand the use and functionality of your Flash by adding additional FluxRing Companion Cups, a 1.5 Liter FluxRing Cooking Pot or any other Jetboil accessories, sold separately.

The included coffee press enables you to simply boil water and prepare a hot, soothing cup of your favorite brew! Jetboil even throws in a coffee sampler to help introduce you to a few new flavors.

The Flash requires the use of a Jetpower Fuel canister, sold separately. Each Jetpower Fuel canister provides ample energy to boil 12 liters of water and, at only 3.5 oz., stows conveniently inside the Jetboil cooking cup.

Likes: Great price on this item. Product works great as expected. First time I used it was up at about 10k elevation and it boiled my water very fast. If you don't already have a small stove then you won't be disappointed.

Dislikes: The Flash java kit is only offered in red.

Although this is a pretty small backpacking stove, there are smaller products on the market. If size is your main concern then look into an msr stove or Optimus.

Likes: Overall, it is a great product. I like that it is pretty much idiot proof. True, it isn't a purest, lighter than air, all-terrain cook stove. I think the design is perfect for someone like me: Intermediate level experience in the outdoors - looking to branch out into the more "back country" type of experience. It lets me have my coffee. Showering I can go without - coffee I cannot.

Dislikes: I really, REALLY wish this was multi-fuel compatible. I'm trying to expand my gear collection slowly (let's be honest, nothing is cheap). I'd like the option to use different types of fuel. I realize I could buy more expensive stoves that have this feature, but I really want the simplicity and "idiot-proof" nature of Jetboil. Light. Boil. Pour.

Likes: It's a convenient, integrated system. It's very efficient for boiling water or whipping up a quick meal.

Dislikes: The only concern I have is that the fuel knob seems a little flimsy.

Likes: Great self contained cookset for brewing a drink or boiling water for a dehydrated meal - haven't had much success cooking anything in it...

But it boils water exceedingly fast and the heat indicator is a nice bonus. See through sip lid and measuring cup are great also.

Dislikes: A bit heavy but they do make a titanium version so I would go with that if your counting every ounce.

Likes: Compact design, good overall construction, heated water quickly. As for the coffee press...it works well if you puch it down slowly and carefully. The measuring cup and heat indicators are nice bonuses.

    Dislikes: Nothing yet.

Likes: A great solo heating system! Performs exactly as advertised! Heats water or other liquids very quickly and easily! Be advised that with the french press, it is difficult to store a fuel canister inside the cup when not in use (and it MUST be the smallest canister available) but it is possible.

Dislikes: The french press feature was a bit touchy. When pressing down the grounds you must hold the press perfectly straight and depress very slowly, of else the grounds pour around the sides of the filter.

Likes: Small, compact and heats water to a boil in about 2 minutes. Nice indicator on the side to show water is hot.

Dislikes: If you want fuel cans that inside the cup you'll have to use the small containers but that's OK for backpacking.
