Product Highlights

Striking a balance between weight and durability, the high-performance Gregory Z30 internal frame daypack employs lightweight, high-tenacity fabrics and an innovative, streamlined suspension system to provide load-carrying capability for long day hikes.

Well aware of the problems that arise from ill-fitting backpacks, Gregory is committed to providing fit, comfort and load-carrying capability. This commitment is evident in the technology used in the Z30's harness and CrossFlo suspension system. A lightweight wire X-Frame and a trampoline-style backpanel work in tandem to support the stability of the Z30 by distributing weight evenly and transferring the load to the lumbar pad and waist belt. Die-cut foam on the harness and waist belt adds breathability and decreases weight. The ventilated moisture wicking harnesses, waistbelt and backpanel enhance fit, aid in load transfer, provide cushioning and keep you cool on the trail. An adjustable sternum strap and load-lifter straps further enhance the fit of the Z30 and ensure the stability of your load, allowing convenient on-the-go adjustment.

The single main compartment of the Z30 has extended zippered top-load access to the pack body. The Z30 also features an exterior zippered top pocket and an interior zippered mesh security pocket with a key clip. All of the zippers used on the Z35 are designed to be weather resistant. Side and bottom compression straps, quick-access waistbelt pockets, two exterior stretch water bottle pockets and hideaway gear loops round out the Z30’s impressive feature set. An integrated sleeve and exit port make the Z30 compatible with a hydration system (sold separately). A color-matched rain cover is also integrated.

Available in your choice of color options, the Gregory Z30 backpack is available in Medium (1831 cubic inch capacity) and Large (1953 cu in) size options.

Likes: The Z30 is really a great pack but maybe no the pack for me overall. I loved the trekking pole attachments, I also loved the side pockets and how they fit a standard wide mouth Nalgene bottle with ease. I love the pockets on the waist belt and I love the fact that the waist belt fit me (as I am a bit of a husky fellow). I loved the construction and all the design work that went into this pack. It really is a great pack if you are the right person.

Dislikes: What I didn't like the most is that when I put the pack on it didn't rest correctly on my shoulders. The shoulder pads were twisting upwards on the outsides and left a finger thickness width between the inside edge and the outside if that makes any sort of sense. While it wasn't annoying initially I knew that on a long 10+ mile hike that would end up being a problem sore spot. I also never felt like the Z30 distributed the weight correctly onto my lumbar. I thought I was doing everything right but every thing seemed to be pulling on my shoulders. I don't know if I just got a bum pack or if that's a actual design challenge for those that have a bigger chest.
