A wealth of access points, an array of features and an innovative suspension system make the Baltoro 70 a stand-out backcountry performer.

Whether you're going to be out in the back country for a weekend getaway or planning to spend an entire week outside, the Baltoro 70 is the pack for the job. The standard capacity of the Baltoro 70 is well over 4000 cubic inches and capacity increases with the use of an extendible integrated spindrift collar.

Determined to avoid the failings of ill-fitting backpacks, Gregory has equipped the Baltoro 70 with the updated, high-performance Response Auto Fit Suspension (AFS) system. Designed to flex with the natural movements of your body, AFS distributes weight evenly, providing superior load stability, comfort and range of motion. A single aluminum stay connects to twin independently rotating waistbelt panels that automatically adjust to the angle of your hips and ensure proper load transfer. Accompanying stabilizer straps allow for micro adjustments for optimal fit. A curved composite top frame "stiffener" further increases stability and aids in weight distribution. The Baltoro 70's shoulder harness connects to the frame of the pack via rotating Auto-Cant attachment points, adjusting automatically to the contours of your neck and shoulders and eliminating the pinching and chafing caused by the imperfect fit of fixed or less adjustable harnesses. The 3D precurved harness and waistbelt are bolstered with dual density foams to cushion and prevent chafing. A sternum strap and load-lifter straps further enhance the fit of the Baltoro 70 and ensure the stability of your load.

A lashed divider separates the top and front-entry main compartment of the Baltoro 70 from a lower sleeping bag compartment, allowing for organization and separation of wet and dry gear. When hauling longer items or in need of access between the two compartments, you can unhook the divider and convert the Baltoro 70 to a single, large compartment. The extendible lid of the Baltoro 70 includes a weather-resistant zippered pocket for stowing gear and can be detached when not needed. Zippered side pockets and a large front pocket provide additional places to store gear.

The Baltoro 70 also includes a canted, hideaway water bottle holder, dual mesh waistbelt pockets, gear loops and side, cross over and lower panel compression straps. An integrated sleeve and dual exit ports make the Baltoro 70 hydration compatible.

Available in your choice of Cardinal Red or Bamboo Green color options, the Gregory Baltoro 70 comes in Small (4149 cu. in.), Medium (4271 cu. in.) and Large (4638 cu. in.) size options.

Likes: This is the Cadillac of packs. IMO there is no superior pack to the Baltoro, it's got every feature you could ever ask for. Excellent padding on shoulders and hips, plenty of room, plenty of pockets, ripstop nylon...you name it, the Baltoro has got it!

Likes: I currently own the Gregory Whitney 2005 series, and I've purchased the Gregory Baltoro-70 for fast packing. I love the updated harness and waistbelt features. I would highly recommend this product.

Likes: very accesible pack with many pockets. has a good look

Dislikes: my sleeping bag doesnt fit in the bottom pocket (Sleeping bag pocket) but my sleeping bag is quite big.

Likes: I used the Baltoro for a 6 day backpacking trip in Colorado just last week. The fit was perfect (I purchased a medium and am 5'11" and 150 lb). The support system is second to know. Far better than the Osprey Aether 70 that I tried at a local retail outlet. Also, the pockets on the hip belt come in handy when trying to get rid of trash while on the trail. Moreover, the buckles and straps for the sleeping bag compartment double as straps to attache a tent/sleeping pad to the bottom of the pack which is a very nice feature. Overall, I give it an A+.

Dislikes: On the 4th day of my trip everything was soaked. We had to pack up and leave camp anyway so we strapped everything to the pack wet. The problem is that this brought the total weight to somewhere between 65 and 70 lb. My lower back was in a lot of pain as a result. I would recommend keeping the weight below 60 when possible!
