The Granite Gear Virga is designed specifically for experienced, ounce-counting backpackers who have reduced the overall trail weight of their gear and are looking for a pack to match. Weighing under a pound and a half, the Virga offers streamlined performance for loads of up to 20 pounds.
Offering options for backpackers of various shapes and sizes, Granite Gear makes the Virga available in three torso sizes. The packbag on the Regular torso offers 3200 cubic inches of storage capacity and the Short and Long torso sizes offer 2900 and 3500 cubic inches, respectively. Lending extreme versatility, a well-designed external compression strap system allows you to securely cinch down gear. The Virga does not have a traditional lid. An extendible spindrift collar protects the interior of the Virga's large single compartment. The collar rolls down and cinches closed with two overlapping, integrated buckle straps that accommodate loads of varying sizes. Made of lightweight, durable 210d Cordura and 70d Cordura/Rip-Stop fabrics, the Virga offers rugged durability without weighing you down. Constructed like a traditional rucksack, the packbag of the Virga does not have a padded backpanel, but dual-density padding on the shoulder straps lends comfort and a fixed webbing belt helps to ensure proper fit. A sliding sternum strap and load-lifter straps allow you to make on-the-go adjustments. When empty, the Virga packs down so small that you could even consider carrying it in a larger pack or luggage for use as day pack or for summit assaults!
Two large elastic pockets on either side of the Virga keep water bottles or other gear close at hand. The external compression system provides numerous places to lash additional gear to the outside of the Virga.
The Granite Gear Virga is available in Short (15"-18"), Regular (18"-21") and Long (21"-25") torso lengths.
