Motivated by the fatigue and frustration of backpacking with what they felt was heavy, overbuilt gear, Kim and Demetri Coupounas decided in 1998 to launch GoLite, a manufacturer dedicated to offering innovative, ultra-lite products that better enable the user to enjoy his or her time outdoors.
