New for 2008! Designed to appeal to lightweight devotees and thru-hikers, the GoLite Shangri-La 3 shelter offers ultra-lite versatility for use in varied seasons. Large enough to snugly accommodate up to three inhabitants, the Shangri-La 3 is lightweight enough to serve as a roomy one or two person shelter. The entire weight of the Shangri-La 3, including its single pole and stakes, is less than 3 pounds.
The Shangri-La 3 provides 59 square feet of protected interior space. Dual roof vents allow air to circulate and combat condensation build-up. The ultra-lite waterproof SilLite fabric of the Shangri-La 3 boasts an impressive tear-strength ratio while keeping packed weight to a minimum.
A teepee-style set-up allows the Shangri-La 3 to be erected with the single adjustable aluminum pole, included with purchase, or by suspending the shelter from overhead branches via integrated external peak loops. The Shangri-La 3 can also be pitched with the use of an extendible trekking pole or even a canoe paddle. The steep pitch of the Shangri-La 3 effectively sheds both rain and snow, making the Shangri-La 3 surprisingly weather-resistant. Multiple stake out loops and 6 included stakes allow the Shangri-La 3 to be pulled taut and pitched securely.
NOTE: A minimalist shelter, the Shangri-La 3 does not include a floor or vestibule. The GoLite Shangri-La 3 Nest can be purchased separately to provide a mesh interior with the Shangri-La 3 serving as a rainfly canopy. Also sold separately, the Shangri-La 3 Floor can be used to lend the Shangri-La 3 greater weather protection and extended season versatility.
