Product Highlights

Oversized to accommodate larger sleepers or those who like to sprawl out, the Exped SynMat 9 inflatable sleeping pad is designed specifically for four-season usage. A built-in pump makes inflation incredibly simple and microfiber insulation improves the excellent cold-weather performance of the SynMat 9.

Measuring 26" x 76", the SynMat 9 employs air chambers to provide 3.5" of comfortable support. High-performance laminated polyester fabric is air tight, slip proof and offers both UV and abrasion resistance. A layer of microfiber insulation is laminated to the bottom and top of each baffled air chamber. The combined thickness of the SynMat 9 and the insulation lend the pad an R-value of 6.0, making it a stand-out choice for cold-weather usage.

Each Exped SynMat 9 has its own integrated built-in pump. Why fuss with blowing up the pad manually when you can let the pump do the work for you? Adding additional value, each SynMat 9 includes its own stuff sack and field repair kit.

Likes: Very warm, comfortable, durable material, light, the ultimate sleeping pad.

Dislikes: Hand pump is more of a novelty

Likes: This sleeping bag is very comfortable. My being a larger guy in the 280 range, I'm always worried about durability on these things. While I haven't used it extensively yet in the field, based on its quality, I would be surprised to see it break down under normal conditions.

The pump is nice, but not super efficient. I found it easier to blow it up most of the way and finish it off with the pump. I do think the built in pump is pretty genius though in its design.

This is simply a well built mat.

Dislikes: It is a little on the heavy side. For the Long Wide version, mine is sitting at right around 2 1/2 lbs. You're certainly sacrificing some weight and size for durability on this one. It doesn't get super compact either at 11 x 6.

Originally I bought this for backpacking, not checking the weight or size, and I will still keep it for car camping or house guests. For backpacking I might try and shave a pound and save some space in my pack and go with the SynMat 7 UL, although, being thinner and lighter, may break down easier for a larger guy like myself. We'll try it out for a bit though and see how it goes in the field.

Likes: I am a big dude, I weigh 330 lbs holds up great, did not loose any air. I am super happy with the purchace. I used it with my big agnes hog park sleeping bag. Get the schnozzel and a shrink bag. they work awesome as an air pump.

Dislikes: no complaints. if it can hold the weight of a 330lb man and not leak air. what else is there to say.

Likes: More comfortable than my bed at home, and certainly way better than many hotel beds I have slept in! A bit on the heavy side for anyone who might be an "ultralight" enthusiast, but our use for now is mainly car camping with the kids and I want a good nights sleep! Even then, I'd be tempted to trade off the weight for a good night's sleep. Both more comfortable and warmer than our old 1" self-inflatables.

Even the wife found the integrated pump easy to use, and especially so if you let it self inflate for a bit as suggested. Seems durable enough as well, though time will tell on that front

    Dislikes: none so far

Likes: Spent a week backpacking on this pad ... seriously had the best sleep I've ever had backpacking. For the comfort it affords, the size is amazing. Packs up small, inflates quickly. Great product.

Dislikes: Figuring out how to pump the thing up takes a minute or two. Practice before using this pad on the trail.

Likes: Ingeneous pump design. Works smoothly down to below zero temps. ~ 2 minutes to inflate at sea level, longer at altitude.
VERY WARM and comfortable for this 52 year-old, carrying more weight than I'd like.
Buy the chair kit! It turns a great sleeping pad into a piece of lounge furniture that everyone will envy.

    Dislikes: No adverse remarks

Likes: Super comfortable! I slept the whole night without once feeling the ground--which is not easy for a side sleeper like me. Also, it is so light and rolls up so small for something that ends up being so thick to sleep on.

Dislikes: Takes a little while to pump up with the internal hand pump, but is definitely worth it!

Dislikes: The price, but I personally think it is worth it.

Likes: packs down small, comfortable, warm, a great upgrade from a self inflating pad.

Dislikes: It can be a little difficult to inflate at times, but I learned that if I give it 2-3 good puffs with my lungs first then it pumps up by hand much faster.
