Product Highlights
Boasting a performance-enhancing back ventilation system, an excellent suspension and load carrying system, back length adjustability and a long list of features, the Deuter Futura 40+10 Vario is equipped for backcountry adventure. With a standard capacity of 2450 cubic inches, increasing to 3050 cubic inches with the use of the extendible spindrift collar, the Futura 40+10 Vario ready-made for overnight or weekend backpacking trips.
Deuter introduced its Aircomfort back and suspension system in 1985 and has been fine-tuning and improving upon it ever since. The Futura 40+10 Vario combines the Aircomfort system with Deuter's Vari-Quick harness system to provide individual back length adjustability as well as great ventilation. The Vari-Quick harness system adjusts easily to accommodate varying torso lengths. A strongly-woven strap "ladder" in the back of the pack allows you to select the desired position for optimal comfort and load distribution. The Aircomfort Vario-Futura System, consisting of a lightweight PE frame sheet and preformed aluminum stays, provides stability and flexibility, adding tension to a mesh back panel. Moist air can freely escape through the space created between the pack body and your back, preventing heat build up. Soft, breathable fabrics and ventilated pads in the back, shoulder straps and waistbelt further help to keep you cool and comfortable on the trail. The supportive tension of the Aircomfort Vario-Futura System, load-lifter straps, and shoulder and lumbar padding effectively distribute weight throughout the pack, providing stability and comfort. Side compression straps enable you to reduce and expand the size of the pack body as needed, further securing contents and ensuring stabilization of the load.
A zippered divider between the Futura 40+10 Vario's top loading main compartment and front entry sleeping bag compartment allows for organization and separation of wet and dry gear. When hauling longer items or in need of access between the two compartments, you can unzip the divider and convert the Futura 40+10 Vario to a single, large compartment. A large front zippered pocket offers an organizational option and additional storage. Internal and external zippered pockets on the Futura 40+10 Vario's extendible lid and zippered side bellows pockets provide further storage options. A front stash pocket with weather-resistant zipper offers convenient, easy-access storage for maps or gear. A small zippered pocket on the waistbelt provides a place to stow valuables.
Other special features of the Futura 40+10 Vario include a trekking pole attachment, an ice axe loop, top lid attachment rings, and an integrated rain cover for protecting your pack against the elements. Two side mesh pockets allow for transportation of water bottles and a lined internal pocket, built-in tube exit point, and tube clip on the shoulder strap make the Futura 40+10 Vario hydration compatible.
Made of ripstop nylon, a high-density woven Ballistic fabric, and Duratex, a 100D abrasion and tear resistant polyamide fabric, the Futura 40+10 Vario has a Granite/Fire color scheme.
