Product Highlights
Updated for 2008! Boasting a performance-enhancing back ventilation system, an excellent suspension and load carrying system, torso length adjustability and a long list of features, the Deuter Futura 50+10 Vario is well-equipped for weekend and multi-day backpacking.
Designed for multi-day back country excursions, the Futura 50+10 Vario has a standard capacity of 3050 cubic inches, increasing to 3650 cubic inches with the use of the extendible spindrift collar.
Deuter introduced its Aircomfort back and suspension system in 1985 and has been fine-tuning and improving upon it ever since. The Futura 50+10 Vario combines the Aircomfort back system with Deuter's Vari-Quick harness system. A strongly-woven strap "ladder", the Vari-Quick harness system allows you to select the desired position for optimal comfort and load distribution. The Aircomfort back system, consisting of a lightweight PE frame sheet and preformed aluminum stays, provides stability and flexibility, adding tension to a mesh back panel. Moist air can freely escape through the space created between the pack body and your back, preventing heat build up. Soft, breathable fabrics and ventilated pads in the back, shoulder straps and hipbelt further help to keep you cool and comfortable on the trail. Load-lifter straps, and shoulder and lumbar padding further aid in the effective distribution of weight throughout the pack. Side compression straps enable you to reduce and expand the size of the pack body as needed, further securing contents and ensuring stabilization of the load.
A zippered divider between the Futura 50+10 Vario's top loading main compartment and front entry sleeping bag compartment allows for organization and separation of wet and dry gear. When hauling longer items or in need of access between the two compartments, you can unzip the divider and convert the Futura 50+10 Vario to a single, large compartment. In addition to protecting the interior of the packbag, an integrated, extendible spindrift collar increases the pack's capacity from 3050 to 3650 cubic inches. A large front zippered pocket offers an organizational option and additional storage. Side bellows pockets and internal and external zippered pockets on the Futura 50+10 Vario's extendible lid provide further storage options. A front stash pocket with weather-resistant zipper offers convenient, easy-access to stowed gear. A small zippered pocket on the hipbelt provides a place to store valuables.
Other special features of the Futura 50+10 Vario include ice axe/trekking pole loops, top lid attachment rings and an integrated rain cover for protecting your pack against the elements. Two side mesh pockets allow for transportation of water bottles and a lined internal pocket, built-in tube exit point, and tube clip on the shoulder strap make the Futura 50+10 Vario hydration compatible.
The Deuter Futura 50+10 Vario has a Granite/Cobalt color scheme.
