Product Highlights

The spacious Aircontact 75+10 boasts an array of features and a trail-tested German suspension system. A standard capacity of 4580 cubic inches, increasing to 5180 cubic inches with the use of an extendible spindrift collar, equips the Aircontact 75+10 for multi-day and extended-length hiking trips.

An anatomically shaped X-frame works in tandem with breathable, hollow chamber foam to grant the Aircontact 75+10 load-hauling capability, padded comfort and ventilation. The X-frame offers a balance of rigidity and flexibility that effectively distributes weight. Further enhancing fit, Deuter's Vari-Quick harness system adjusts easily to accommodate torsos ranging from 16"-21" in length. Adjustability in the padded shoulder straps and pivoting Variflex hipbelt aids in both comfort and fit. In addition, a concave molding at the top of the backpanel works in conjunction with the height-adjustable lid to provide a contoured space for head movement, combating the stiff, sore neck often associated with a long day on the trail.

A zippered divider between the Aircontact 75+10's main compartment and lower sleeping bag compartment allows for organization and separation of wet and dry gear. When hauling longer items or in need of access between the two compartments, you can unzip the divider and convert the Aircontact 75+10 to a single, large compartment. The main compartment has top loading access and in addition, a large, U-shaped front zipper enables you to quickly put hands on gear and or clothes without having to dump out the entire contents of the pack. Side bellows pockets offer large storage capacity and even have drinking tube pass-throughs for carrying hydration systems (sold separately). An interior pocket, a zippered lid pocket, elastic side pockets and a small zippered hipbelt pocket provide additional places to store and organize gear. A streamlined front panel pocket is well-suited for stashing maps.

Other special features of the Aircontact 75+10 include ice axe loops, top lid attachment rings, dual front daisy chain attachment systems, an SOS instruction panel and an integrated rain cover for protecting your pack against the elements. A lined hydration sleeve in the main compartment, built-in tube exit points, and a drinking tube clip on the shoulder strap further enhance the backcountry functionality of the Aircontact 75+10.

Likes: Out of the box, I loaded this bad boy up with 49.7 lbs. and did a steep hike of 4.5 miles. I worried it might be uncomfortable having just come out of the box, but the hip belt and shoulder straps molded to me perfectly and carrying it that distance was more of a pleasure than a chore (the pivoting hip belt rocks!). The lid is large enough to hold my water filter, first aid kit, rain gear, and iPhone with room to spare. The detachable rain cover stores in its own zippered compartment on the bottom and is large enough to cover the entire pack - nice feature! Also, the material and zippers on this bag are bomb proof.

Dislikes: The bag could use a couple more external pockets to help with organization. Finally, the pack is a little heavy at just over 6 lbs., but that's to be expected for a pack this large that can easily handle 50+ lb. loads.
