Product Highlights

Ideal for ounce-counting thru-hikers, adventure racers, ultra-marathoners or any outdoor enthusiast looking for streamlined performance, Black Diamond Ultra Distance fixed length trekking poles are incredibly lightweight and collapsible. Carbon fiber construction keeps weight to an absolute minimum.

The Black Diamond Z-Pole Rapid Deployment System consists of a concealed inner cord, a single push-button release and a one-pull deployment. Borrowed from Black Diamond's tested avalanche probes, a Kevlar center cord provides surprising strength and stability. Similar to tent poles, the sections snap securely into place without the need for external or internal locking mechanisms. The result is weight savings and increased collapsibility that enables them to take up far less packed space than traditional poles.

NOTE: Though collapsible, Ultra-Distance poles are only available in fixed lengths (available in 120 cm or 130 cm lengths) and do not provide an adjustability range.

Non-slip foam grips maintain the minimalist profile while serving as secure hand holds. A short extension to the grip provides a place to choke up on sidehill traverses and compact straps help to relieve stress on the wrists.

Two set of tips are included. Carbide tips deliver solid traction for hard surfaces or ice. Non-marking rubber tips can be used to prevent trail damage and provide grip and durability. An included storage bags protects your poles and includes an integrated pocket to house whichever set of tips you aren't using.

Black Diamond Ultra Distance poles are sold in pairs.

Likes: Light and collapsible. Good for travelers.

Dislikes: It feels not very durable. It is made of carbon, I think it is normal to feel so.

Likes: Super Light! Super Packable. 130cm is the perfect length for my 6'2" frame. Comfortable grip with left and right wrist straps. I havent liked heavier poles in the past as they seem to tire out my arms when I use them, these are effortless even on long hikes.

Dislikes: Be aware there is no spring compression on these - they form a rigid pole. That took me a bit of getting used to but proved not to be a big deal. Biggest negative of this is they seem a bit louder than other poles when they hit the ground.

Likes: This a great poles. The are both strong ans light weight. I am 6'3" and about 200 lbs. On one of my first hikes with these poles I has hiking down a steep hill with loose rocks. I lost my footing and instantly transfered most of my weight to one of the poles to avoid falling. I felt it flex a little under the sudden load. It didn't bend though and I was happy to have not fallen. If used properly these are great poles. Highly recommended.

    Dislikes: Nothing

Likes: Love these poles. So light weight and easy to fold. They also fold really small for storing.

Dislikes: Size is not adjustable. This is not a problem but you need to make sure the poles are fully extended when choosing the best size for yourself.

Likes: These poles are light weight and sturdy. The cable system used to break down the poles for easy packing is ingenious. I use the Black Diamond provided storage sack to pack my tent poles when hiking, keeping them on the outside of my pack. Thought not height adjustable, at 6'1" the 130cm poles are the perfect height for my size.
