Product Highlights

Ideal for ounce-counting thru-hikers, adventure racers, ultra-marathoners or any outdoor enthusiast looking for streamlined performance, Black Diamond Ultra Distance Ultra Distance Z-Poles are incredibly lightweight and collapsible. Carbon fiber construction keeps weight to an absolute minimum.

The Black Diamond Z-Pole Rapid Deployment System consists of a concealed inner cord, a single push-button release and a one-pull deployment. Borrowed from Black Diamond's tested avalanche probes, a Kevlar center cord provides surprising strength and stability. Similar to tent poles, the sections snap securely into place without the need for external or internal locking mechanisms. The result is weight savings and increased collapsibility that enables them to take up far less packed space than traditional poles.

NOTE: Though collapsible, Ultra-Distance Z-Poles are only available in fixed lengths (available in 100 cm, 110 cm, 120 cm or 130 cm lengths) and do not provide an adjustability range.

Non-slip foam grips maintain the minimalist profile while serving as secure hand holds. A short extension to the grip provides a place to choke up on side hill traverses and compact straps help to relieve stress on the wrists.

Two sets of tips are included. Carbide tips deliver solid traction for hard surfaces or ice. Non-marking rubber tips can be used to prevent trail damage and provide grip and durability. An included storage bag protects your poles and includes an integrated pocket to house whichever set of tips you aren't using.

Black Diamond Ultra Distance Z-poles are sold in pairs.

Likes: Fantastic poles - light, compact but the design still provides for amazing stability. The carry case is an added bonus. Excellent product

    Dislikes: nothing

  • Mike B. Cheektowaga NY

Likes: These poles are perfect for the beginner. Honestly, I was like, "What the heck do I need trekking poles for?" That was until my first uphill mile. Then I knew. Took them out on a flat hike along the Erie Canal and didn't once find them cumbersome during use.

Dislikes: I'm not a big fan of how the poles collapse for storage. The bag is a bit tight and doesn't fit well onto my gear straps. Small potatoes really.

  • Bryan G. New Ringgold PA

Likes: Lightweight, rigid, packable, many uses such as backpacking and ultra running, and quick to deploy and put away.

Dislikes: Nothing, the perfect trekking pole for all my running and backpacking needs
