Product Highlights

Black Diamond Trail Shock Compact trekking poles incorporate easy-to-adjust external locks, innovative anti-shock mechanisms, textured compact grips and rugged aluminum construction. This combination makes Trail Shock Compact poles a great balance of year-round performance and price.

Black Diamond's patent-pending Control Shock Technology (CST) employs a unique external absorption mechanism that functions smoothly and quietly without diminishing the collapsibility of the poles. CST's progressive, 4-stage shock absorption saves wear and tear on your wrists and maximizes pole performance.

Far easier to adjust than traditional telescoping poles with internal locking mechanisms, the external locks found on Trail Shock Compact trekking poles are ideal for use in all conditions and seasons. Black Diamond's FlickLock system couldn't be much simpler. Even if you're wearing gloves, it's a cinch to open the lock with a flip of your finger, slide the pole section to the required length and tap the lock back into place. Once you've used FlickLocks, you'll wonder why anyone would ever want to wrestle with temperamental internal mechanisms.

Ergonomic compact grips provide contoured, comfortable handholds. These textured grips extend far down the upper pole sections, allowing you to adjust where you grasp the Trail Shock Compact poles and eliminating the need to shorten or extend the poles each time you encounter a steep slope. Padded, adjustable webbing straps help to reduce stress on your wrists.

Press-fit Flex Tech Tips have integrated low-profile trekking baskets that provide backcountry traction. The WaveLock construction of the Flex Tech Tips allows you to choose between interchangeable carbide and rubber tip (sold separately) ends for optimal performance on varying terrain.

Sold in pairs, Black Diamond Trail Shock Compact trekking poles offer a usable adjustment range of 25"-49" and collapse to 24" for convenient storage and transportation.

Likes: These poles fit straight up inside my carry-on size suitcase, saving a lot of room vs. crosswise. I've been looking for a long time for this. Shock absorbing is through compressible plastic material, so doesn't have the weird twang feel of spring-based shock absorbing. Straps very comfortable.

Dislikes: Sometimes hard to quickly adjust length while walking, since sections slide so easily. Worst thing is they are discontinued, so I hope they last.
