Likes: I prefer the larger surface area these give to the tiny carbides.
Dislikes: Durability is unknown at this point, seen some wear after only a few miles, but that might slow down after the initial roughening up.

Likes: The tip protectors are very easy to put on and take off. I haven't had them long enough to comment on their durability but if they are made as well as the poles I'm sure I will be pleased.

Likes: I use these all the time...on the trail and when I want to do "Nordic walking" on pavement. It fits well with the "leave no trace" concept as they are non-marking and some parks forbid the metal tips. I found no difference in grip for "normal" hiking with the tips on vs. off. Actually, they work quite well when you have a lot of slippery and loose rocks to contend with. Obviously, the only exception to this rule is going to be in winter snow.
Dislikes: The instructions indicated to twist off the metal tips first. This doesn't seem to be accurate as they fit perfectly on the flex tips. If you look inside the rubber tips there's even a space for the points to slide in. I can't imagine you'd want to remove your flex tips anyway in the event you really do want the metal tips for some rugged terrain. You'd be switch them constantly rather than just popping the rubber tips on and off.

Likes: Great to have on hard surfaces. Easy on, easy off. Get these if they aren't included in your purchase.
Dislikes: Black Diamond should include these in every set of poles.

Likes: The tip protectors fit well and are easy to use.
Dislikes: The rubber is not as hard or durable as those made by Leki, but Leki tips are twice as expensive.

Likes: I love my trekking poles; they've been a real knee saver. Unfortunately the tips on them leave ugly holes and tear up the trails. That was until I found these tip protectors which I use all the time when hiking.
Dislikes: I had to buy them again. It sucks but they wear through eventually. I think I'm averaging a new set about every other year. Oh well, at least they're not very pricy.

Likes: I purchased these tip protectors because I wanted to get in better hiking shape by walking in my immediate neighborhood with full packweight and poles. Most of the walking is on asphalt though and I did not want the abuse the carbide tips on my poles.
The protectors work great. Good traction, soft impact. Some minor wear and tear but so far they are holding up better than I thought they would.
Dislikes: My only criticism is that they did not come with the Black Diamond Trail Ergo Cork poles to begin with. Considering the price of poles in general, it would have been nice if they threw in one pair for free.

Likes: These little rubber deals sure make a difference on hard surfaces. They take some of the shock out and add a nice grip.
Dislikes: They did wear a little faster than I expected. TIP: when using them over a long time on roads, turn them so the wear evenly.
