Product Highlights
With ergonomic grips, ground-breaking elliptical technology, innovative locking mechanisms and rugged aluminum construction, Black Diamond Spire Elliptic trekking poles are high-performance options for any and all types of backcountry adventure. Not surprisingly, Outside Magazine's 2007 Buyer Guide applauds Spire Elliptic poles for being a killer value.
An improvement on the rounded shafts used in most traditional trekking poles, the elliptical shafts found on Spire Elliptic poles provides greater stiffness and strength when locked in place. This stiffness gives you the confidence you need to tackle challenging terrain.
Based on the idea that most users only ever need to adjust a single section of their poles, Spire Elliptic poles utilize patented auto-locking Binary Systems on the lowest pole sections. All you need to do is extend the lowest section to its maximum length and the Binary mechanism locks the section firmly in place, requiring no further adjustment while in use. Overall height adjustment is addressed between the middle and upper pole sections by an external FlickLock. Simply open the lock with a flip of your finger, slide the pole section to the required length and tap the lock back into place. Once you've used FlickLocks, you'll wonder why anyone would ever want to wrestle with temperamental internal mechanisms.
Spire Elliptic trekking poles employ ergonomic grips with a 15 percent corrective angle for maximum comfort and usability. These textured grips extend far down the upper pole sections, allowing you to adjust where you grasp the poles and eliminating the need to shorten or extend the poles each time you encounter a steep slope. Padded, adjustable webbing straps help to reduce stress on your wrists.
Press-fit carbide Short Flex Tips work in tandem with low-profile trekking baskets to provide Spire Elliptic poles with optimal backcountry traction.
Sold in pairs, Black Diamond Spire Elliptic trekking poles offer a usable adjustment range of 41"-55" and collapse to 27" for convenient storage and transportation.
