Product Highlights

Ideal for ounce-counting hikers, backpackers or trail-runners, Black Diamond Distance trekking poles offer streamlined performance. Innovative Z-Pole construction enables Distance poles to collapse down small and weigh far less than standard aluminum trekking poles.

The Black Diamond Z-Pole Rapid Deployment System consists of a concealed inner cord, a single push-button release and a one-pull deployment. Borrowed from Black Diamond's tested avalanche probes, a Kevlar center cord provides surprising strength and stability. Similar to tent poles, the sections snap securely into place without the need for external or internal locking mechanisms. The result is weight savings and increased collapsibility that enables them to take up far less packed space than traditional poles.

NOTE: Though collapsible, Distance poles are only available in fixed lengths (available in 120 cm or 130 cm lengths) and do not provide an adjustability range.

Non-slip foam grips maintain the minimalist profile while serving as secure hand holds. A short extension to the grip provides a place to choke up on sidehill traverses and compact straps help to relieve stress on the wrists.

Two set of tips are included. Carbide tips deliver solid traction for hard surfaces or ice. Non-marking rubber tips can be used to prevent trail damage and provide grip and durability. An included storage bags protects your poles and includes an integrated pocket to house whichever set of tips you aren't using.

Black Diamond Distance poles are sold in pairs.

Likes: These poles are great. I haven't used them much but they are sturdy and VERY light weight! They collapse small enough to be transported very easily weather you are backpacking or just on a day hike. I bought an (outdated) pair because they were cheap and I don't do enough of hiking to make top-of-the-line equipment necessary but having good equipment is nice! Thank you Back Country Edge.

    Dislikes: Nothing so far!! (:

Likes: Lightweight, compact, and durable. Everything you could want in a pair good trekking poles. I keep them strapped to my pack when I'm not using them, and they're not even noticeable. couldn't be happier with these.

    Dislikes: wouldn't change a thing.

Likes: These poles are super lightweight, and easy to collapse and store.

Dislikes: A huge downside to these poles is that they are not adjustable. They don't make much sense for the average customer who may have steep ascents and descents, and will require different lengths.

Likes: Very light and yet sturdy. Took on AT three different hikes (8 nights, 100+ miles) worked great especially downhill.

Dislikes: Not size adjustable, but made to measure.

Likes: Poles vs no poles- no brainer!

After reviewing the "Benefits of using Hiking Poles" video here on BCE, I decided to buy these on clearance.
They were worth every penny on my first 10+mi hike as I had loaded ~25lbs of gear in my 30L pack.

    Pros:
    light
    easily collapsible and erected
    cool looking
come with cover for storage usage

Definitely worth the buy and i strongly suggest getting poles and especially these for the quality/price ratio :)

    Dislikes:
    Cons:
not adjustable (but follow the manufacturers suggested sizing and you should be okay)
straps are not that secure fitting; no big deal

Likes: Perfect for air travel: small enough to fit into a 2-1/2" cardboard tube (for extra protection) inside my backpack when I have to check luggage (TSA say no to carry-on). Sturdy & works well in most terrains (packs away quickly for scrambling), bought them for a trip to Scotland and they were great!

Dislikes: I think my adjustable size Komperdells have nicer grips so if I'm not flying I'll continue to use them instead.

Likes: The best thing about this pair of poles I think is the ability to shrink its size when not in use. This is extremely convenient when you are traveling across the country. Besides, they are sturdy, light-weight and elegant-looking.

Dislikes: You need to make sure the length fits your size comfortably. I went to REI to try it out before purchasing it.
