Product Highlights

Built especially for backpacking couples, the Big Agnes Saddle Mountain SL 15 Degree Double Wide sleeping bag offers lightweight packability with room for two! Insulated with water-resistant 700-fill DownTek insulation, the Saddle Mountain SL 15 Degree Double Wide bag delivers performance regardless of conditions.

The Saddle Mountain SL 15 Degree Double Wide bag is insulated with 700 fill DownTek insulation. Down insulation has long been renowned for its compressible properties and efficiency in delivering an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. The shortcoming of down has been its susceptibility to the effects of moisture, losing much of its performance qualities when wet or damp. DownTek insulation utilizes nano technology and a proprietary application process to provide water-repellency and both anti-microbial and anti-bacterial protection. A nylon microfiber rip-stop shell also features a water repellent treatment and provides lightweight durability.

Insotect Flow technology is used in the Saddle Mountain SL 15 Degree Double Wide bag to help eliminate cold spots, regulate the movement of down inside the baffles and offer better body heat distribution. Strategically placed Flow Gate construction eliminates lateral and vertical down shifting by using vertical chambers with "gates" to control the position and density of the down insulation.

In a traditional sleeping system, the bag lies on top of a sleeping pad. In this configuration, many people find themselves rolling off the pad at night. Plus, the insulation on the bottom of the bag is compressed by the sleeper's weight. Once compressed, the fill loses most of its insulating properties. The Big Agnes Sleep System is different, joining the bag and pad together. The pad slides into a sleeve on the bottom side of the bag, supplying insulation to the otherwise uninsulated bottom of the bag while the top and sides of the bag are insulated like a traditional sleeping bag. This design provides a secure foundation so you can roll, twist and turn freely during the night without ever rolling off your pad. It also prevents the bag from twisting and engulfing you in an uncomfortable mess. Big Agnes uses this system throughout their entire line of sleeping bags.

The Saddle Mountain SL 15 Degree bag requires two 20" wide pads. Once you match your bag with sleeping pads of the appropriate dimensions, spending a night in the Saddle Mountain SL 15 Degree bag is both warm and comfortable.

A doublewide insulated ergonomic hood, draft tubes located along the length of the dual zippers, a center no-draft flap and separate insulated neck yokes lock in heat and keep out cold air to enhance the warmth and comfort provided by the Saddle Mountain SL 15 Degree bag. Built-in pillow pockets hold Big Agnes Air Core Pillows (sold separately), clothes or other pillows, providing a comfortable resting place for heads and necks.

Each Big Agnes Saddle Mountain SL 15 Degree sleeping bag includes a mesh storage sack and a nylon stuff sack.

Likes: This bag is more light and compact than two separate sleeping bags. Its better than having two bags that zip together - a lot of air tends to leak when you zip two bags together and most of those types of bags don't have draft collars you can share.

This bag has good draft collars and separate zippers that can be unzipped just at the bottom if you like to stick your feet out. It has insulation on the sides too, I think it'll be pretty warm.

I was worried about how to inflate the mattresses after they were inserted into the back of this bag, but the bag has 4 holes (1 on each top corner of each mattress) where the nozzles stick out.

Dislikes: Its a bit slippery inside. We haven't used it near its lower temperature rating of 15 degrees (only tested ~50 and it was too toasty to zip up), I suspect this wouldn't be a problem at all if we actually needed to zip the whole bag up. I'll see if I can update this review after we use the bag in lower temperatures.

Also, it doesn't come with a compression sack, and with a bag this size, that's really needed.
